As arbitrary as it is to celebrate (for lack of a better term) the end of this 10-year period, I was wondering if PA has any plans to commemorate it? I'm assuming the Collaborators Albums of the Year list will return, but will there be one for the decade?

One idea I have that I thought might be interesting is to have each genre team compose their own list of the best of the decade. I was just thinking the other day that I really haven't heard any good symphonic albums from this decade and while I could always just use the list functions provided, there's a chance there is a well-liked album that just hasn't been reviewed enough. This goes for the rest of the genres as well.

Also, although we have all these "Best of the Decade" polls, they have limited choices and perhaps not everyone has seen them. Would a more systematized site-run poll work?

Thoughts?

The Collaborators' Top for this year will arrive at the end of February. We haven't done anything concerning the entire decade, though.

This could sound interesting.

I was checking the PA top Symphonic albums for this decade and indeed I can't say how good it is. All my favourites are on lower places or are missing completely:

No it does NOT! Don't make me start this again!

I would be interested in seeing a PA top albums of the decade, but I am completely unwilling to put any effort into making that happen. On the other hand, though, it wouldn't make sense to do a special thing for the 2000s when we don't have a best of list for any other decade.

I thought of that but this is the first time this site could do anything for a current end-of-the-decade and there isn't a reason why the site couldn't do the same for past decades as well. Although, is there much of a point in a best of the 70s list since that is what predominates on the site anyway? (I think 80s and 90s could be genuinely useful though.)

I think this could be a good way to push modern music to the forefront. However, (and this is my own personal bias, I suppose), I fear bands like Dream Theater, The Flower Kings, Porcupine Tree, etc. dominating the lists and not doing much good in the end.
