The New Tony Williams Lifetime (to give them the name they started with) album "Believe It" is out on Monday on CD - but arm twisting got me my copy today.  Two bonus tracks are a real joy, one a rework of "Mr Spock"  known here as "Letsby", w

"Believe it" is probably the best record Tony Williams ever released and one of the best jazz-fusion CD. It's a shame that the follow-up "Billion dollar legs" was so poor in term of music quality compared to his predecessor.

You have to wonder whether the record company made them release a "pop" album or if they collectively had a gigantic brain fart? "You Did it to Me Baby" brlaphfff.

Remember this was the period (end of the 70's) when most of the major jazz rock and jazz funk groups were under contract to the mighty Columbia (I include Epic here too)  or Warners. So either company pressure to be more commercial (e.g. IMHO
