I know there was a poll like this one, but it was created before the album was even released, so I'm doing it again.

I know for a fact that I'll give The Whirlwind more plays than the others- so my vote is simple.

Bridge Across Forever. Everything on it is absolutely wonderful except maybe the Morse ballad which is mediocre imo.

Why didn't you just bump the other thread you even mentioned in your initial post?Wink

And I vote for The Whirlwind.

Dude, change your avatar right now! I swear I thought you were Bob (Easy Livin). You never want to have the same avatar as someone that has been around here for a while. Wink

I was thinking the same thing Wink. I don't think we can do this to Bob. It's his trade mark, it's BOB's Big smile

I still think the first one is the best though The Whirlwind is growing on me with repeated listens.

The Whirlwind. Before the album came out i'd have said the debut.

but the Whirlwind is fantastic! save for a couple of dull moments, IMO, during Rose Colored Glasses, but the entire thing is a treat to listen to. so many good parts and soaring melodies, not to mention their most diverse album i think. Is It Really Happening? moves me in ways most music doesn't. every movement stands on its own.

it's so good i still havent listened to the bonus disc in the 2 weeks ive owned it.

The Bridge. Sorry to be on a downer, I just don't get what all the fuss is about The Whirlwind.

Because it was out before the album was even released... people can't have heard the final version... if they heard it it's the demo version with the interruptions.

SMPT:e for me, The Whirlwind is good but not as brimming with ideas... and lacking a bit of atmosphere too imo.

I really don't want the wrong impression. I started that thread 2 DAYS AFTER the Deluxe Edition of the album arrived at my doorstep. I assumed that it was released by that time. However, that DOES NOT change the fact that starting 2 threads with the same exact question is unnecessaryWink

I like the first two about equally, but find myself playing SMPTe a little more often. The Whirlwind is excellent compositionally and instrumentally, but I find the lyrics a little heavy-handed and as a result, don't play it very often..

Haven't listened much of the other albums so gotta vote for The Whirlwind cause that one I like alot

The Bridge Across Forever, by a long way. SMPTe was pretty good, but The Whirlwind was a major disappointment for me.

None of the above. I prefer Live Across America.

  1. The Whirlwind
  2. SMPT:e
  3. Bridge Across Forever

My initial impression of The Whirlwind was not that favorable, but I kept listening and it kept growing on me.  Then when I saw them perform in Chicago it took the Whirlwind material to a whole new level.  All of the Above and Duel actually seemed a little boring when heard alongside The Whirlwind.  Stranger was still awesome though.

Had the live albums been included in the poll, then I would have gone with Live in Europe, too
