I am pleased to announce today that Roger Waters has decided to tour again in 2010-2011. He will be touring Tthe Wall by doing 8 cities but that could change. More on this when I get it.

Seems it's just a rumor now, though it would be really cool if he did. But I don't think he will come anywhere close to where I am so I'm not sure if it really matters much for me anyway.

He probably will be doing it in Israel. He did the Dark Side of the Moon gig in Israel 3 years ago and I have to say he was more than fairly excited! i LOVE the wall, but not interested in paying $300 large for the two of us to see a rehash, especially without Dave there. And he won't be there, don't kid yourself. He hates that album and he won't give Roger the pleasure of using the Pink Floyd name.

Roger owns the rights of Animals, The Wall and The Final Cut, so he doesn't have to use the Pink Floyd name. Sounds like good news though, if it's true.

He probably indeed does want to use it. I once saw an interview or documentary though in which I believe he said that he has left all the stuff about who deserved the rights of the name Pink Floyd behind. If I remember correctly he even admitted that David and the boys deserved it more, though he didn't seem to enjoy admitting it.

I like the Wall, but if he showed up in Atlanta I seriously doubt I would like to go to the show. ------------- Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

Great news if it comes about. The man is the absolute genius behind Floyd, and I was privileged to see him in London for the In The Flesh tour. I would most certainly repeat this for The Wall.

As a Roger Waters diehard, I registered so I could contribute to this thread. I need to correct a few mistakes. First, Waters HAS released material since his last concept album. For one he wrote a full classical opera! Either those who are saying he lost his creativity are unaware of this opera, or they don't consider it a creative effort. I don't follow that, but needless to say, I don't agree. He also submitted a full album last year, but so far it seems the record executives are sitting on it. If you want to hear pieces of it, you can find them around. It will have Each Small Candle from the In the Flesh Tour, and Leaving Beirut which he performed on tour the last time he came through. I saw the Seattle show and I loved Leaving Beirut. I bellieve the song he did for The Legend of 1900 is to be on that album, too. So Waters has not been resting on his laurels, unlike certain former bandmates. He continues to upset the soulless minions of orthodoxy, believe me. Just go read the Wikipedia discussion page for Leaving Beirut. It's just a simple song about a nice memory from pre-war days, and he simply asks why we assume these people have no humanity, why we talk about them like they are not human, you know? But boy oh boy, that is all it took to rile up some people. Now, as to the band, well, of the former bandmates, the keyboardist has passed away, and he and Waters had fallen out anyway over the former's cocaine addiction. The former drummer is still his friend. The replacement for the original guitarist, on the other hand, has released several solo albums using the Pink Floyd name. That is how this Roger Waters fan sees it. Your mileage may vary, but that's my opinion. Roger Waters wrote The Wall. He also wrote Dark Side of the Moon, Animals, and pretty much all of the lyrics after Sid's breakdown. As to the new band, they have been called The Bleeding Heart Band since the Pros and Cons Tour. The drummer has been Graham Broad since about day 1. Andy Fairweather Low has played guitar in this since Clapton chose not to tour. Waters on bass... that's right, he still plays his instrument... and keyboards have been shifted around now and then, but you can't complain about Jon Carin, when he can get him. So what's not to like? This is essentially the band who did the Pros and Cons Tour, the live Wall at the Berlin Wall... really, pretty much everything since Waters decided to stop working with people who contributed nothing to the music anymore. I am really excited about this tour. I loved the Dark Side tour, and I hope he'll come back to Key Arena in Seattle. |

Granted, he did all the lyrics and the concept, but the music was made by the whole band, whici is ofcourse, for me, even more important than the concept (and I admire the concept of that album and really love the lyrics): Indeed Breath in the air, Money, and Brain Damage/Eclipse were wholly his songs, but Time and Any Color you Like are, if I recall rightly, composed by the rest of the band (Waters only contributing lyrics to Time, obviuously), and Great Gig in the Sky and Us and Them were Wright's babies, so indeed, without the rest of the band, this would have been a very different album and certainly wouldn't have reached half the success it really did (as a matter of fact, neither would have The Wall, for even if that one was indeed mostly written by Waters, the rest of the band at least pushed him to make it better - Specially Gilmour - and Gilmour co-wrote one of the most important tracks of the album and of the band: Comfortably Numb). As for Animals, that one is indeed mostly written by Waters too, but Dogs is Gilmour's baby once again, and that's by far the longest song, and for me the best (though indeed I love the whole album). So no, I don't agree Waters was all that Pink Floyd was about, the band worked at their best when all collaborated. |

Same here Brian. I love the Wall, gave it 5 stars. Would have killed to see the original shows. But I just don't have the desire to spend $300 for us to see a 65 year old guy croak through the material with a band of non-Floyds. I can have much more fun in my living room with a DVD for 10% of the price, plus have the advantage of better sound, better views, cheaper/better drinks, no parking nightmare, and way less hassle. ------------- ...that moment you realize you like "Mob Rules" better than "Heaven and Hell" |

 A strong supporter is RW that the obscene Wall of Israel gets knocked down too. I saw RW live in 2002. | Waters already said Europe will be toured too, 52 dates or something like that, but the dates were not given yet (surely they will be for 2011). He also said he wanted to tour Latin America and other parts of the world, but that isn't confirmed yet. |

I've seen Pink Floyd two times without Waters. I have also seen Roger Waters two times without Pink Floyd.
If I had to choose what to see again, I would easily opt for Roger Waters.
In fact I have my tickets to see his The Wall in San Jose, CA.
And I don't believe Waters needs the name Pink Floyd in his shows. Most people see him as the creative force behind Floyd.
