Hi guys,

we are Echo, based in Bucharest, Romania. Targeting prog rock arena, probably closer to Heavy Prog, our music is influenced by the prog rock of 70-80's yet with rather melodic roots.

started some 20 years ago, as a college band, played only couple of years, later we found ourselves again this time for this new prog project called ECHO. we have been playing in the current line-up for the past 2 years as a hobby and we just finalised our first CD album, named The Dream. the CD is expected to be released in November, as an independent artist album.

also, freshly cooked our web site (http://www.echo-band.ro/), a my space page ( http://www.myspace.com/echobandro ) and a reverbnation post as well.

the current line-up is as follows:

Daniel Ionita, acoustic and electric guitar
Sorin Manolescu, electric guitar and vocals
Laurentiu Popescu, keyboards and vocals
Petru Macarie, bas
Catalin Chivu, drums

we don't know if we are prog enough, we'd love to hear it from you. hope you'll enjoy couple of minutes of our music.

have a nice day,

sorin

PS To my real shame I have only been recently enlighted towards your site, I simply love it. it is a joy to my soul to see so many people still fond of prog. thought gone are those days...keep it up!

I agree with Atavachron ( by the way, you are a very agile man Mr Athos) I dig the old time space rock feel!

I like what I hear! Maybe the vocals I like less, but nonetheless I find the final product very accomplished and enjoyable. Please keep us posted!

thanks, mon ami, for your kind words, unfortunately, good vocals with prog orientation are scarce these days in our city, but we keep on training our voices and also looking/hoping for a new voice, whichever produces faster results.

Which city are you from? I know there are plenty of vocalists in Bucharest for example (not proggers, though).

we're from Bucharest. if you can give us a hint we would be eternally grateful.

Smile  turned into this thread a little bit late ... because of the subtitle 'Heavy Prog' Wink

as mentioned before obvious spacey hints here - Pink Floyd as a reference at first
but also art rock elements and jazzy keyboard - nice music ...
our team will validate this ...

Most of the vocalists in Bucharest are very young and probably not into prog, but who knows... Did you know that Travka disbanded and their awesome vocalist, George Gadei, is now available?

had no idea. thanks for the tip, we would love to have him on board. happen to know George's whereabouts? you seem to be knowledgeable about our scene. how come?

i am really looking forward to your review. we put a lot of work and passion into this but i am aware that this is just the beginning. and as all fresh things there is much room for improvement, so, any opinion, comments, etc. will only help us make better music.
thank you very much indeed,

Just for briefly catching up, we have officially launched the album in Bucharest, on 12th Nov. Organized a live show, quite nice (lasers, fog, the works), invited media guys. it worked well. Subsequently, had a live TV show on the TVRM channel and a live show on Radio 3Net channel. And yesterday participated with interview and album material on Student FM radio channel. Quite a busy and interesting month.

all the best,

sorin

Hi, Sorin.

We Psychedelic Prog Team have rechecked your album (great stuff!) and you may find your place in Crossover subgenre.
Your songs have definitely mainstream rock essence tinged with Floyd-ish Psych & sweet Heavy flavour.

Thank you, Keishiro and Alex (but not only), for your sympathy and support. For us, being part of PA, it is another Dream come true. Keep it up on PA, for the benefit of this great and perennial music genre.
Best wishes for the New Year!
