Both Zappa(well one from The Mothers) albums that are generally more accessible to what he had been doing at that time, and yet both highly regarded and both, IMO, are great.
Which one do you prefer, and if possible what you think of both.

I love them both, but Apostrophe sounds better to me. I prefer Hot Rats and Wazoo, though. And also One Size

I'll take an overnight sensation over an apostraphe any day.

I'll go with the majority: Over-Nite Sensation sounds better for me, still Apostrophe is great.

Over-nite Sensation for me. Its solid all the way through, while Apostrophe has too many ups and downs.

Tough one. I went for Over-Nite Sensation, since with that album FZ was finally back! So Over-Nite's the better album for me, but Side 1 of Apostrophe(') is a thing of beauty itself.

Apostrophe has always been one of my favorite albums, so I'll choose that

Apostrophe for me (though they both feel as one, like the two albums really need to be heard together). Interesting to read so many say that they've chosen Over-Nite because it seems more consistent to them, when, for me, it's the other way around. I love both albums but Apostrophe has always felt like one of FZ's most consistent works. Funny that.

Over-nite by a somewhat thin margin. The cover art is spectacular and it has Ponty. Slime still applies to TV these days so has a certain eternalness to it. Then again, I guess so does Stink-foot, I suppose.

Apostrophe. The only song I don't care for is the title track, which gets a little tedious for me. OS is solid all the way through but doesn't have the highs that Apostrophe has.

I first heard them combined, and that is the way I like to hear them still.

Over nite is strong all the way through. Apostrophe has 1 or 2 weaker tunes and the album only goes for 30 minutes hehe
------------- Jazz/Classical Rock(70's style prog/fusion). Lots of prog keys and melodies(all original ideas)

Over Nite easily. Apostrophe is good, but it seems like it was bashed out in about two days. Over Nite feels more composed. And the songs are better.

I vote for Apostrophe, although this was hard to do! Zomby Woof is one of my all time FZ faves, and come on, Montana? Life altering. However, the interlude in St. Alphonzo's is one of the greatest things ever.
