Just a bit of fun here ... we can have fun can't we?
Lots of prog music features storylines and characters, do you have a favourite?
I think mine would be The Reverend, from "The Battle of Epping Forest" (Selling England, Genesis). The devil caught hold of his soul...
Runner-up is Mud Flanigan, the hero of "The Prince of Heaven's Eyes" album by Fruupp.

I guess I'm going to go with anyone of Colin Meloy's deep characters...yeah, that weird guy from The Decemberists.
So many to choose from with him, yes....but if I must, I might tip my hat to that poor bloke in "Grace Cathedral Hill," or the pair of homosexual whores in "On the Bus Mall," or brave, defiant, William...
...or The Rake...
All right?

Does it need a Just for fun tag in front if it is in fact, just for fun?

Very hard one - Either Kezia from Protest The Hero's album of the same name, or Marillion's Torch from Clutching At Straws.

You beat me to it. Lockheed has great artistic dark humour which reminded me of the early Monty Python. I would pick Jack Of Shadows but for me to say it is a real character is quite an insecure guess as many of Robert Calvert's writings are way over my head.
