hey, i'm totally new to the site, but i give props to the construction and easy to use links and what not ... however here's my problem - i live in a part of Canada that play two different brands of music - Nickelback & country music ...back when we used to have some decent radio stations there was a song that totally freaked me out ...but unfortunately that was 15 -20 years ago and my memory doesn't serve me well. i thot the song was by King Crimson and it sounded kinda 70's but i haven't a clue. the song is a pretty hard driving tempo tune with both the guitar and keyboards playing the same melody, but the kicker is when the vocalist comes in - he sings something like "...ya-de-de da-da de-de, da-da de-de......) then the rest of the band kicks in again. it's one wicked tune....can anybody help me out ?? |

| Maybe Focus "Hocus Pocus"?? Is it like a yodeling kind of Ye de de de o? with a killer guitar riff as the main theme? IDK........be more specific |

PS: It's all Nickleback clones here, too Back in the 70s, I would buy the new Crimson, Genesis, or Ponty, unheard, as I knew these artists (and late-night FM actually played the stuff), but today, were it not for this site (and its MP3s) I would never have even known that bands like Spock's Beard, Echolyn, Porcupine Tree, etc, even existed! -- FM is nowhere near as diverse as it used to be. Stumbling upon this great site (the main Archives) has thankfully demonstrated to me that fine, intelligent, non-commercial, cutting-edge music continues to be made, but it remains hidden (unheard) from most North Americans. Thus, we (and newer prog bands) really need MP3 samples, & sites like this one (this is the only one I need, Max) in order to help us make informed purchases of new music.

| Ha! Ha! You must live in Alberta where bands like Yes have had to cancel shows due to lack of interest. Anyway sounds like Hocus Pocus by Focus to me but could also be Harem Scarem by the same band from the album Hamburger Concerto. Glad I live here in Montreal. We have a store which sells only prog & metal. |

Vibe, I'm not sure if that was directed to me, but for the record, I don't live in Alberta. I am from the fun and friendly city of St. John's, but live in ON now.

| Well, alberta happens to be a very cool place. The only problem? nobody out there listens to good music! there are some cool jazz clubs in Calgary (I went there a few years ago), and the Flames kick ass, but other than that, the province has provided little in the way of culture. |

I just want to clear up something before I find myself having to apologize to someone on this forum again. Anyone who lives in Alberta please don't take what I said persnally. When I lived in Calgary a Yes show had to be canceled due to low ticket sales. I phoned the promoter to ask why and he told me he almost lost his shirt when ELP played there. He ended up having to comp a few hundred tickets just to make it look less embarassing. Where I grew up and live in Montreal, Quebec music and he arts are a big thing. We have festival after festival during the summer months including one of the largest jazz festivals on the planet. If a band like ELP or Yes rolls ino town it's pretty much guaranteed to sell out fast! I almost didn't get tickets for the Musical Box and had to buy a scalpers ticket for Dream Theatre! So please don't take offence to what I said. I just happen to live in a region of Canada that has a hge appreciation for the atrs.

hey people, thanks for the tips on the particular song that was causing me so much of a head cramp...and by the way Vibrationbaby I AM FROM ALBERTA !! but i'm not gonna give you any grief becuz living in Lethbridge can be very frustrating. especially music-wize. we have two rock radio stations that rotate the latest crappy offerings from our "supposed" home-province heroes Nickelback and their half-dozen clones that i can't believe get airplay...but windy southern Alberta isn't all bad...in fact Lehtbridge can be a pretty rockin' city when it wants to be, and there are LOTS of people here that still love good prog-rock music. here's my question to you...readers, tell me the top five greatest albums of all-time ! I'd be interested to see how they match up with mine...(my no.1 ? Fragile by Yes, or Brain Salad Surgery by ELP, depending on the day..)) oh, and by the way GO FLAMES GO !! (flames in six ) |

| I've been down to Lethbridge for the airshow a couple of times but spent most of my time up in Cold Lake when I was in the Air Force. Unfortunately I think the habs are going to bite the dust in 4! My greatest album of all time would have to be The Inner Mounting Flame by The Mahavishnu Orchestra (see my review) In A Glass House by Gentle Giant (see my review) and Dance Of The Flames by German band GuruGuru (see my review) are among my favourites as well. |
