Wakeman as a performer for me, but Emerson gets the vote for his composition skills. Maybe Wakeman could have my vote had he written just 1/10 of the "music" he wrote...

I prefer Wakeman's work with Yes - think of 'Awaken' for example - to Emerson's often too circus-like playing (and ruthless stealing from classical composers). Plus contribution with e.g. Strawbs - and the solo career too, though very uneven.

Hard to decide both great players.

Also hard to decide for me, but I cast my vote for Rick just because all Yes albums he was a part of are great (exc. Onion) and he also has recorder a lot of great solo albums. Which compensated for the huge amount of crap that he's also done solo

The battle of the Titans still rages on I see. Times dont change man! Well for me it always was and always will be Emerson.

Both are unquestionably superb, yet I personally pick Wakeman due to the wonderful solo piano work he delivers- check out the beautiful 'Birdman Of Alcatraz' and the piano interludes of '....King Arthur'.

I picked Keith mainly 'cause Rick almost never touches jazz. And Keith was a big admirer of Oscar Peterson, a jazzman I always liked myself. And you can hear a little bit of Oscar in his playing too. Rick is just too stuck on classical. He's great, but I go for Keith's diversity.

Jobson's definitley up there, but I wanted to just keep it to these 2 legends. Jobson, as good as he is, is not a headliner like these guys

OHHHHHH F*CK its impossible to choose because both are equally great technically, live and as song writers, but because Wakeman was with Yes which is one of my favorite bands I'll have to help him out...

Emerson. He's simply better, in terms of composition and playing.

Emerson is great but Rick is such a crazy guy, that and I have to go with my Yes roots and Rick has a lot to do with my likeing of Yes.

Wakeman.

I don't know if it's ELP or just Emerson, but he gets annoying sometimes. But he definately does have skill.

Both are good, but I prefer Wakeman's repertory

There should be a seperate category for ''Don't care but I hate Keith Emerson whoever he's up against'' for all the ELP haters.Tactical voting will ruin this poll methinks. No matter how fluid a player Wakeman is,for me Emerson is a much more interesting musician than dear old Rick.RW is a 'larger than life personality' but Keith Emerson is a progressive keyboard genius.

(IMO)

I can't believe Wakeman is winning! I think Keith Emerson is much more skilled.

Both equally capable players, but I prefer Rick's more artistic, sensitive playing to Emerson's bombastic, loud and fast improvisation.  They are both great showmen too,

BUT RICK'S RETIRING FROM LIVE PERFORMANCE!!!

I'M DYING!!!

Technically I guess Emerson might be better, but music is not all about technique, it's also about writing good music, so I vote Wakeman.
