Hi,
here you are some of Supertramp's epic work. All of them are interesting (I think some of them can surely be considered great). Pick your favorite and why?
Note that no Crime Of The Century is included - to keep this poll a bit equivalent.
For me it's a battle between Fool's Overture (great composition) and Child Of Vision (fantastic piano), but Try Again is surprisingly good track on the slightly underrated debut album.

They're all excellent and Fool's Overture shouldn't have much problems winning this

(Rudy from COTC is longer than Child Of Vision and might have given a run to Overture)

I'll pick Try Again, because it's on the first and most unjustly over-looked album. Brother is also excellent, but there are moments when they're not 100% on the money.

I find Child Of Vision is easily the best track from BiA, but the outro is a bit repetitive.

Good pollThumbs Up

IMO Child of Vision is the best song Supertramp ever put together. Lyrically and musically a masterpiece. Notwithstanding all the other songs mentioned in the poll.
Rudy and Aries also worth mentioning.

Good poll. I would have voted for Fool's Overture even if you HAD put Crime on it.

It seems that even without anything from Crime, Fool's Overture would have at least made a very strong contender, if not dominated, and probably would have gotten my vote.  Rudy would be the only other one that would challenge it for me.

I think I'm going with the majority here.  "Fool's Overture".  I like to pair that one with Elton John's "Funeral for a Friend (Love Lies Bleeding)" -- two of my favourite rock tracks for many years.  It has added value because W5, a Canadian news magazine show, used part of that track as its theme music.

I haven't listened to Breakfast in America in many years.  It was the first Supertramp album I remember hearing, my brother had just bought it -- I guess that would've been 1979.  I think that, I Robot, and Replicas were my favourite rock albums at that age.  Just checked youtube to listen to "Child of Vision"; what a trip back to my childhood.  Good song.

Brother Where You Bound, no doubt.

The 2 classics are really good, but I still prefer Try Again over them, sadly overlooked..

Fools's Overture is such a tremendous song. Hodgson paints a wonderful background that is both historical and spiritual with his words and music.  One song I think that should be included on the list, if you can call it an epic, is Hide In Your Shell.  Crime of the Century was the first Supertramp album I bought and this was the song that made me fall in love with this band. I know it maynot have the production value of Fool's Overture, Child of Vision or Try Again never the less it is still one of their best.

Try Again.

It has a 'Canterbury' feeling to it.Reminiscent of Caravan and early Soft Machine.

-------------

Do 'The Stanley' otherwise I'll thrash you with some rhubarb.
