Breaking news!!!!!

In wake of the future of Symphony X possibly disbanding, Russell Allen submitted his vocals to the DT songs from the instrumental BC&SL deluxe release. Apparently James LaBrie was caught off guard with this and had no comment.

This is my contribution to the Weekly World News publication of completely exaggerated or false stories.

HI,

I think that DT would be off their rocker to not continue with LaBrie.

We would be looking at another Van Halen ... sorry ... it was not half as good, nothing against Sammy, but the original was far more fun and enjoyable! And the 2nd version was about money ... plain and simple!

Think of it this way ... now that you have children, you are going to tell your wife that it was not all worth it and that you have decided you want another woman ... you are really showing your class in the art ... you really are.

But yes, reality in life is that sometimes things move on ... but if I were DT, I would tell all you guys that want these 2 to split where to stick it! C'mon ... that's like saying you don't like my wife, or vice versa ...

You either like the music or you don't ... stop whinning!

It's hard to argue with that. DT with Russell would be great stuff.

LoL!

An interesting thought...Russell Allen singing Dream Theater...

I'm pretty sure that if anyone in the current DT lineup left the group, DT would be no more. So, I think we are stuck with who we've got in Dream Theater currently (which I have absolutely no problem with Tongue)

If that is true I would be VERY VERY upset at Symphony X bisbanding.
But Russel Allen doing DT vocals would be pretty amazing

Russell's a great singer, but this really is not what Dream Theater need right now. What they need is for Rudess to have more input in the songwriting, for Myung and LaBrie to start writing lyrics again, for Portnoy to ease up on the backing vocals, and to assess their live performance. I know, it's a lot, but I'm genuinely concerned for them, and I think BL&CS might have crushed what was for me, a fifteen year run of outstanding music. A new band member would all be too much.

Portnoy said in an SC era interview that everyone is replaceable except him and Petrucci.

Damn... how did he figure that? I can't think of any keyboard player who is rounded enough (who would be interested) to replace Rudess, for a start. And Myung and LaBrie would probably be almost as hard. This is without even thinking about chemistry...

NOO! Haha, I'd love to hear Portnoy do the high passages in 'The Spirit Carries On'. It could be very entertaining.

If Russel replaces LaBrie and he could get 4 other guys to replace the rest of them DT could put out a good album again.

Russell sings outstanding, but wouldn't like seeing him with Dream Theater, like others said, the vocals are not the main issue for DT, bring back Moore or at least Derek!Tongue

Unless James left on his own terms, I couldn't see the fans being too accepting of such a move.  James works well as the vocalist in Dream Theater despite his inconsistencies live.  To many, James may as well be an original bandmember.

What are Symphony x actually doing at the moment? They said they'd tour Australia for paradise lost tour, but haven't updated their website in over 1/2 a year.

What's going on?  Anyone know?

If Russell Allen didn't sing about Odysseys, dragons and castles and he joined Dream Theater I'd make the prediction less people would complain all day on prog-forums about the band :)
