As of, today, Greenland is now officially and independent country!
Free from the rule of Denmark.

The least densely populated country in the world just means it has a lot of space to grow!

Yea, it was it's own country but technically a part of Denmark.
However, today it is fully and officially independent.

One step closer to global popular sovereignty! Eventually no one will have to live under another countries borders, (or jurisdiction) except their own!

OK, I'm semi joking with all this but honestly, congrats Greenland!

I did not think people even lives there. The vikings tried it and they all died.

It's not fully independent...some cases are still being done by the Danish government.

Never knew they weren't independent anyway. Cool.

So, is the size of the government equal to the size of the population?

LOL Actually, that's kind of brilliant....no one can complain about government if you're in it

^ You're boycotting windmills? How? LOL

I hate them too, they just spoil the landscape and the ratio cost/benefit is not good enough.

I suppose you could not eat any grain that is grinded by a windmill, or not use it's electricity.
Good thing MWH can stop that now, I'm sure his boycott was crippling Denmark

I refused to use their electricity or to build them any where near me. Good thing I live in the US where we don't like alternative energy. Tongue

And I actually like windmills. Big smile

You're right. But on that note:

I got 115!
I knew all of North and South America, most of Europe, a good chunk of Asia but Africa did me in...

All 3 of them, perfect number for a military junta....and a polar bear army. Those are some big animals.

I got 170. It would have been better If I'd known some English names. For example, I was stuck at the bigger Congo. Dem Rep of the Congo, eh? LOL

I'm a bit embarrassed. I completely forgot about Kosovo and Moldova Confused, Sri Lanka, Cameroon and Kuwait...

BTW, the green country names are VERY annoying. I could have think of lots of other countries if I had seen the map.

yeah

Has anyone ever explained the confusion over why a block of ice is known as Greenland, whereas a fairly green land, is known as Iceland.

I always wondered.....but I just gave up and chucked it up to irony LOL

The vikings thought Greenland was pretty green when they first arrived. They should had gone to Specsavers, I guess. LOL

Iceland on the other hand was pretty icy, according to my ancestors. If they had made landfall in England on a Saturday night, England would today had been better known as Drunkland. So I guess England had a lucky escape. My ancestors went further north and did not cause a one thousand year long embaresment.

They still have a defence agreement with the Danes. Who would want to attack them?

All you people are joking but I tell ya, Greenland is not to be messed with.

I sure hope Obama extends a hand and maintains a good relationship. Wouldn't want to piss off their polar bear army. They look cute but those things can just be brutal.
