Babe Ruth mmmmm? Saw them in the early 70's and vocalist Janita (Jenny) Haan could belt them out (she was one of the Memorex voices on the TV ad, and I do believe one of the first UK signings to Tamla Motown!?). Guitarist, Alan Shadlock was the mover and shifter here but never could quite make his mind up. On "First Base", you kick off with  the memorable "Wells Fargo"  - rocked up Tamla, even to a Junior Wells type sax break or two -  then there is the first of the perennial covers of Spaghetti western music and throw in some Zappa  with "King Kong". Prog possibly on the broadest of terms, because they were taking on board the Tamla element  - but then Rare Earth had done that in the late 60's and I wouldn't support them are proggers. Rather rock with a soul/R'n'B base.
