Well it really has occurred to me that prog metal really is a genre unto its own (I'm talking about the combo of Post Metal, Exp Metal, Tech/Extreme Prog Metal and Progressive Metal). Yes, so is every subgenre here on PA, but there is one thing that they do not have (jazz rock/ fusion may be an exception): and that is a circle of bands that wouldn't quite meet the PA standards of prog metal, but are too progressive to be left out either. So, I suggest possibly a Prog Metal Related sub-genre? Because let's face it, bands that would fit in that genre would definitely not feel right at home under the current Prog Related section.

Any comments?

I don't see the point of adding any more Related bands, but that may just be me. But I can say for certain that having Prog-Related and Prog Metal-Related would look quite silly, because after all, metal is a subgenre of rock...

Alternatively, you can have Prog Metal-Related if I can have Fusion-Related and include John Coltrane, Albert Ayler, and Ornette Coleman. ;-)

That would be too much metal in my eyes , 4 genres are more than enough specially for a progressive rock site.

I understand where youīre coming from Alex, but the place for such bands ( which would be a lot of the bands currently rejected by the PMT) is Prog-related. As it is the admin team who decides which bands should be in that catagory it requires open-minded attitudes and knowledge into all genres from that team to be able to decide wether or not something that didnīt quite make it into one of the other prog genres should be included in Prog-related. A very hard task if you ask me and I suppose thatīs why itīs only special collaborators ( If I understand correctly?) who can suggest artists for Prog-related and not us ordinary mortals. This should at least eliminate the most silly suggestions, but on the other hand it can also cause a lot of frustration if you donīt agree with the members of a certain team and they refuse to champion what you feel is a no-brainer for inclusion. But thatīs how things work and most of the time it works pretty well IMO. Call it a filter or whatever.
