Say you and someone are playing something (card game, sport, videogame, pool, etc), You play somewhat better than the other person.  That other person is of the opposite sex and is either a lover or a romantic interest.

Would you let her win? (if you're a girl, I put options for letting the guy win) :)

You're free to discuss in addition to voting :)

What's the point of playing anything if one of you tries to lose?

I let my wife win occasionally, so I voted for the 2nd option. On the other hand, I'm too fanatic to play relaxed, but I'm not such a bad loser as she is...

You've made this poll just for someone to mention strip poker, didn't you?

Seriously now, I'd be a bit more relaxed, but if she could play the game at all, I'd play to win.

Never.

If it's not a video game or chess, my wife does a fine enough job winning on her own most of the time.

I let people win games all the time. If it's my wife all the more reason not to play cut-throat.

Of course I'm an obsessive maniac when I get serious, so that may contribute to my response.

You are quite a fine person, and I am very fond of you. But you are only quite a little fellow, in a wide world, after all.

I'd probably rather let her win if we were not together. If she was already my girlfriend, I'd fight better. Wink

I'm usually quite awful at almost any game so it's not really a matter of throwing a game.

Well, I suppose it depends on her level of competence. If we're playing something that I'm actually good at (football, for instance), I'd take it much easier. Then again, if we're on the same footing so to speak, I'd try my best to beat her.

It depends. Usually I'll play like I always play, even if it means that I will dominate over her in the game. Sometimes, though, I'll relax some and give her an advantage or something like that.

I'm a guy and I would almost always let her win

I'd let anyone win if need be,I've never been competitive.

Hot sh*t, yes. You think I'm going to care about one game if I can have a shot at the World Series?

And this is why the poll question shouldn't have combined 'lover' with 'romantic interest'.

We play fair, we both pretty much hate losing, but we also try to make it relaxing as possible.

Still, we usually skip games and resort to other ways of...playfullness...

I voted for the fourth sausage, extending it just a bit longer.

4th option. My family is ultra-competitive at everything. Especially when it involves games of some kind. Heck, I play Euchre quite often with my family and some of those games get a little...heated to say the least.Wink
