On the frontpage we can currently read: Latest 50 Free Mp3 Download (stream)

This description is not correct anymore (the tracks are not downloadable), and should be replaced by something somewhat closer to the truth. "Latest 50 additions to the progarchives mp3 player" or something similar. Thoughts?

Hmmmh - download is true from a strong technical point of view - but as most of the people will expect a download button or link then the text could be changed by all means ...

Yeah, technically speaking it is; but as for how the expression is understood and used it isn't. And I suspect that description may partially be to blame for some artists and labels being sceptical when it comes to having selected works made streamable here - as they may think that whatever is listed here in fact is downloadable.

I think it still says "Download" because it is a strong keyword and attracts more users (through search engines).

I made a simple google search for this string: Free Mp3 Download
and I had not any hit for progarchives in the TOP 100

even the string Free Mp3 Download progarchives came on rank 45 first ... Confused

^ search engine optimization ... I love it.

The key is to not optimize for such commonplace combinations like "Mp3 Download" or "Free Mp3 Download". But try to search for "Gentle Giant Mp3 Download" in Google ... page #1 is the progarchives artist page for Gentle Giant.

Well I dont mind saying that I dont like it saying "free download", though I have always understood why.

^ it's the combo "free mp3 download stream" that makes it so powerful. And technically it's true ... the streams are technically downloads of mp3 files, and even on the pages without streaming files the heading is where the downloads *should* be.Wink
