Hello! I have another one for ya (hopefully I'm right this time!) They were called Fantasy. They released one album in 1970 and 2 singles (first was Stoned Cowboy b/w Understand and a non-album A & B-Side: Painted Horse b/w I Got the Fever). Their song Stoned Cowboy was a minor hit in the US, reaching # 77 on the Billboard Pop Singles, and their album reached # 194 on the Billboard Pop Albums.
The members are as follows: Lydia Janene Miller - Lead Vocals (she was only 16 years old when she recorded this!) Vincent James DeMeo, Jr. - Lead Guitar/Male Vocals Mario Anthony Russo - Piano and Organ David Robert Robbins - Bass Guitar Gregory Scott Kimple - Drums

I wouldn't tempt fate, young sir...
I've heard the album through now, and all I'll say is its a very interesting proposition..
I have to be honest, I'm really most intrigued as to where you have managed to find so many relatively obscure one album wonders from the early '70s??
You've certainly had our Eval team scratching our heads..

Well my dad has had a copy of the GoodThunder album for over 30 years now, I got the Fantasy album from my dad's friend who was giving a buch of records away almost 2 years ago. As for the Armaggedon album, I just stumbled across that online and said "that seems interesting" and so I got it and loved it. So there's that...
And I'm glad that I can at least give you guys some challenge!

And if the heavy prog thing doesn't work, perhaps one of you could pass it along to the Cross-over or prog-related teams.

I know that album and to me is more heavy psych than prog.

I disagree with that, yeah theres a lof of psych on that album BUT there's a considerable amount of prog aswell. Now maybe not heavy prog but definitely some form of prog.

^^ well, we will put you all out of your misery and say that the HP team have all actually warmed to your 'Fantasy' album...
however, we don't *quite* think it fits Heavy Prog... so we have sent it over to our Psychedelic/ Space Rock team, for evaluation and comments...

Didn't try to search it up. It was mentioned in one place on a side note - and when going through the memorials for Jamene Miller it wasn't mentioned there either; so I presume they didn't make much of an impact.
On Rateyourmusic I see they released a double album in 1971, and are credited with a few singles later on in the 70's.

It was a pleasure for me to discover this band, and I cannot thank you enough for that, Tim! We'll definitely be looking forward to more suggestions, as we know there are still many Seventies bands that haven't been included in our database.

^^Yeah Fantasy was also included on a double album released by Libert Records to showcase their bands along with two singles (one which has two non album A & B-Sides. The B-side, Painted Horse, is one of their most progressive songs.) Both those singles, or all four songs, are included as bonus tracks on Black Frills Records CD release.

Painted Horse is simply one of their best songs, I'm surprised it wasn't included on the album. I Got the Fever is pretty good, I like it, but its also a goofy song that sounds nothing like their one and only album. Now that I think about it, it sounds like a whole new band just with the original singer Lydia Janene Miller. Perhaps I Got the Fever is a solo effort on her part?
And of course Stoned Cowboy and Understand are just single edits that may or may not be essential.

(Sigh) I have a sad piece of information for one of you collabs to add to Fantasy's bio. Lead singer Jamene Miller died September 27, 2008. I just found out by doing a quick search of her on google and I found her website. I then went to the guestbook page and found that former Fantasy keyboardist Mario Anthony Russo and bass player Bob Robbins commented on her death. Very sad and unfortunate.
Here's her website, the home page has pictures of her but nothing else. http://jamenemiller.com/guestbook.php
