Anyone hear a bit of a similarity between Amon Duul II and The Mars Volta? I've been listening to both bands lately and I can really hear a resemblance in sound, especially from Amon Duul's "Yeti"  and The Mars Volta's "De-Loused in the Comatarium".

I can almost see where you're coming from, especially in songs like Archangel's Thunderbird from ADII.  Not sure how strong the connection is (I haven't listened to either band in forever), but it's definitely an interesting idea.  I certainly wouldn't be surprised if TMV listened to and were influenced by ADII.
