Currently each artist page have a link to the official homepage of a band (or an unofficial if the official one doesn't exist anymore).

Could it be an idea to add the option of linking to the artists MySpace page in addition to their official homepage?

I think it's a good idea. There are some artists who don't have a website but have a myspace (especially the indies), but it's also good to directly link the myspace page of an artist rather than having people dig it up from the band's contact links, on their official website.

When a band don't have an official website (which happens quite often nowadays, especially with older bands), I usually put the link to their Myspace page, where site users can at least find some information, as well as samples. Therefore, I think it would be a very good idea to link Myspace pages as well.

I think it's a great idea, especially in a genre like MR where most of the bands haven't put up dedicated webpages yet. I'd be willing to be 75% in the genre work out of their Myspace pages, it would be nice if we could direct visitors in that direction rather than make them go searching.

Should this carryfoward to Facebook or other similar type pages too?  I've never been on Facebook, but I assume that bands have pages on there too.

Less regularly. (...judging by the fact that it's the first time I actually hear about this. EmbarrassedWink)

I've seen individual members with pages, but not bands. You need to be "friends" with them to view their pages and there's nothing to do with music on Facebook, so i think we can rule that out.

Here is a Facebook page for the band Mekhlin.  http://www.facebook.com/pages/Mekhlin/13443790066 - http://www.facebook.com/pages/Mekhlin/13443790066   This is where I had seen it before; they had a reference to a Facebook page on their homepage.

Oh wow! I never knew about stuff like that. Consider my comment stricken from the record

I have noticed of late that several bands have posted updates within MySpace that they now have a Facebook page available.

Although, personally I don't use it. MS is much better with far less juvenile games etc

It could work, but in most cases you can find a link to the band's MySpace on their official site anyway (and in some cases also vice versa).
