I am interested in putting together a compilation CD of excellent drum solos, preferrably by prog musicians.  Please provide a list of your favorite drum solos.  By drum solos, I mean a full song where the guitarists, keyboard players, and singers leave the stage and allow the drummer to show off his wares while he plays solo.

Thank you,

Scott

1. "Conundrum" off of Jehtro Tull Live Album (1978) - Barriemore Barlow's double-bass prowess!

2. "The Drum Also Waltzes" - Bill Bruford showing off his jazz-roots talent on the kit.  From the album "Music for the Piano & Drums," with Patrick Moraz on keys...

3. Alan White on one of the live Yes albums (can't remember which one)

4. Same with Carl Palmer, probably on "Works, Volume I"

Can't remember any others right now.  That should get you started...

A long time ago around, 1974 probably,  several of us came up "What drum solos can you sit through and listen again  (but not necessarily again) too"? The list was short and  boiled down to

Ginger Baker's Toad (ex. Cream's Wheels Of Fire)
Joe Morello's Castillian Drums (ex. Dave Brubeck Quartet At Carnegie Hall)
Jon Hiseman's The Kettle  (ex. Colosseum's).

I'm afraid some 35 years later, only the Morello solo has really stood the test of repeated play and time.

I can't think of anything worse than a CD of drum solos.

Ah man, I can only think of a few! And they really aren't worth mentioning

If you put drum solos over the top of actual songs, then I would be able to put a great compilation together!
