Hi all,,

I am new to this forum and while scrolling through I saw that one of my fave bands info is incorrect and in need of an update! I have searched for any updates posted elsewhere on here but couldnt find any so please forgive me if I am repeating something that has been posted elsewhere.

Karnataka now feature Ian Jones on bass and acoustic guitars, Lisa Fury on vocals & percussion, Gonzalo Carrera on keyboards, Enrico Pinna on lead guitar and Ian Harris on drums and percussion.
Rachael Jones the old lead singer is now in a band called the Reasoning quite a departure from Karnataka and  Anne Marie Helder and the other guys formed the band Panic  Room both of these bands have a somewhat harder rock sound to Karnataka (not a bad thing) but hey ,its only my opinion!

Karnataka are on a short UK tour starting on October 14th at the Robin Bilston & it finishes at the Point in Cardiff on Oct 27th. Full details are on the website http://www.karnataka.netmx.co.uk/ - http://www.karnataka.netmx.co.uk/
There are some cracking photos of the last tour in 2007 & some of the latest line up including the new drummer Ian Harris. The site forum is also quite active and the band members drop in quite often!

I suppose I am a fairly recent fan of the band after seeing them at last years Cambridge Rock Festival I didnt know who they were or what they sounded like but I was blown away by the live performance and was lucky enough to meet Lisa and Gonzalo after the gig, they were really friendly and signed all the gear I bought! Really looking forward to the new album the site says it should be out very soon.

I hope to get to the Point show this tour and I see they are also doing a show with Jade Warrior at the Astoria on this tour so cash permitting hoping to make that one too!

I was gonna try to post the tour poster on here but couldnt quite fathom out why it wouldnt do it...DOH!

Rock On!! Cool

LOL, Well done sir!

I have to say I saw Karnataka at the Komedia Brighton & was totally blown away yet again so much so I am going to see them again at The Astoria2 with Jade Warrior. a

A huge step forward from the last tour.with a much more rockier edge to the sound on the new material, steering away from the previous Mostly Autumn comparisons If you havnt seen the new line up Check them out!!

Could I be cheeky & suggest "Epic Celtic Prog Rock" as a new classification!! Tongue

Wink

^^^LOL

you can suggest the classification, blissfully unaware of the infighting, disputes and general hair-pulling it might cause..Wink

seriously though, Sleeper & I saw them last Tuesday night at Bilston and they put on a very good show, however I do tend to agree that the new band will in all probability, at some stage be removed from the Prog-Folk camp, 'cos the new stuff sure ain't folk...Embarrassed

LOL .. I aim to please!  Big smile

I also heard from a mate that it was a good one at Bilston & about the comedy moment- unplugged acoustic guitar unplugging thing! I believe there were a few minor sound clarity problems as well but they were spot on at the Komedia and had a very atmospheric light show to boot! Great venue! Great gig!

Yes, the term folk is right out the window with the new stuff that's for sure!
