 Don't know about a tour, but long-term Bowie fans, especially of the Ziggy Stardust/Mick Ronson/Spiders From Mars era, should appreciate this Top of the Pops performance:

Longer period of inactivity could be a indication of yet another "change"

I find the last albums to be oki, but nothing more than that.

Another change would be great, the last 3 albums were good but they were a bit similar I think. Anyway all his albums since Outside were pretty good IMO, especially Earthling and Heathen wich are great. All this inactivity the last years is wierd though, he never spent so much time without releasing new stuff. Has he mentioned something about working on new material or maybe retiring (I hope not!)? I remember he had some heart problems in the Reality tour and had an operation, does that have something to do with his inactivity?

I love David Bowie, I think I could say that he was my link to progressive music actually. I wanted more music which sounded like anything I hadnt heard before. My favourites must be Ziggy, Scary Monsters and Sattion to Station.
The long inactivity may depend on a need for a break to take care of the personal life, maybe? Good to hear about new material I must say

Wow, no new studio material since 2003. Hell of a discography so far. My faves chronologically, and I haven't heard everything: Low Heroes Lodger Scary Monsters (and Super Creeps) [of course]  1. Outside [aren't we overdue for 2. and 3.?] Earthling Heathen Reality ------------- Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

I would like to be as optimistic as Micky and tell that David will never die. Still, there were a lot of rumours talking about serious health problems (the fatal genre ones).
When you look at his site, there are sevearl months with no real interesting stories. I really fear for him.
I guess that it is useless to tell that this man means a lot to me (as Genesis, Yes, Tull, Floyd, Purple, Led Zep, Hendrix and a lot more...).
I have rated five of his albums with 5 stars: Ziggy, A Lad Insane, Station To Station, Low and Scary Monters.
Four stars for The Man Who Sold The World, Hunky Dory, Diamond Dogs, Christiane F, Hours. As many artists featured on this site (and I mentioned only a few above), he WAS part of my teenage days (wildlife). Life WILL sound different to me without him. ------------- ZowieZiggy |

I was kind of a late comer to Bowie. My favorites are usually ones where he's working with someone with a good prog reputation like Fripp or Eno. Outside was the the first that really got me into his stuff. Heroes was the first one I had though. Heathen, Low, Scary Monsters, and Lodger. I know that's six, though I have others and two DVDs, not counting the Black Tie White Noise deluxe edition, which comes with a DVD. Sometimes only prog on the fringes, but always an excellent musical artist.
