I've searched through theory books, the web, and still no one has been able to give me an explanation or an example of a pletora. Any of you music majors out there want to shed some light on it for me?

Can you give us a context or an example of where you heard the term?

Pletora is the Spanish word for plethora, which could indicate it is associated with Spanish music, or it might just mean an abundance of notes...

It also helps to be more specific in your thread topic...

Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...
