Here is an update on the latest Jazzis Web Shop News:
As many of you have already noticed, in the last few months I’ve been concentrating mostly on adding Jazz oriented material, with an emphasis on British Jazz from the 1960s / 1970s. There are two primary reasons for this:
- I love that period in British Jazz, which was revolutionary and fundamental in establishing the European Jazz scene. The musicians, who were active at the time (and some of which are active still today) were truly great and visionary and their music is an everlasting source of great musical experiences.
- Unfortunately there is very little happening on the contemporary Prog scene that is worth attention and since a vast part of the material that is worth having is already on the site, I limit Prog additions to the absolute minimum of exceptional releases.
My aim is to achieve a balance (quantitatively) between the Prog and Jazz offerings, which at the moment is about 65 : 35 % in favor of Prog. The site is reaching the target of 2,000 items, which I set for myself years ago and hopefully will get there by the end of the year. Honestly there simply aren’t many more truly excellent albums out there that are not already on my site. Presenting the 1,000 best Prog and 1,000 best Jazz albums ever released is the ultimate target of my site.
Here are the links to the new labels, which I started to cooperate with lately. These are truly the best and most important Jazz recordings of European Jazz and I urge everybody to give them a try, even the die-hard Prog fans, who should “switch” more into the “Jazz mode”.
