Love Mike Oldfield, David Gilmour, and music that sweeps you right out of reality?  You're going to love Kevin Bartlett's new album, "Glow in the Dark."  Here's part of the official presser...

Kevin Bartlett

Releases "Glow In The Dark" and Celebrates 25 years of Indie Label, Aural Gratification

Glow In The Dark (2008)

" In a world replete with imitation, repetition, and caricature, Kevin Bartlett has given us

something new, something original, something heartfelt, profound, something

to take us deeper, something to take us to the doorway of joy and inspiration and truth."   James LaVeck, Film Producer

Kevin Bartlett is a composer and musician who fuses his unique guitar sound with electronic wizardry and symphonic elements to create music that is a unique synthesis of progressive, ambient and cinematic styles.

His latest release, "Glow in the Dark", has been described as "breathtaking, soaring, mysterious, haunting, magical, meticulous, epic, beautiful..."  His previous release, 2003's "Near Life Experience" was chosen as one of the top 5 albums that matter most by Backroads and charted on Echoes and Musical Starstreams Top picks of that year.

Bartlett’s record label, Aural Gratification, is celebrating it's 25th anniversary this year.  Originally created to release his own recordings, Aural Gratification blossomed into an Indie label releasing 25 titles including 9 albums by cult-favorite Happy Rhodes.

Music from "Glow in the Dark" is featured as the score for the upcoming documentary, "Peaceable Kingdom" from filmmakers Tribe of Heart.

Bartlett's albums are available at CDBaby, iTunes, Amazon and through Aural Gratification.

Ever have trouble describing someone's music?  The above is how Kevin Bartlett's music has been described.  John Diliberto described the cut he played from Bartlett's new album, "Glow in the Dark", as 'epic."  I guess that's true.
To me the album sounds like a soundtrack to our lives.  "Near Life Experience", his last album, was called "the soundtrack to the movie in your head."  "Glow" feels more universal.  The first time I heard it I felt like I could put a story to it - kind of an heroic journey kind of thing...whether it's Odysseus, Luke Skywalker or the main character from "Big Fish" or even (forgive me, it fits) Cloud.  You know the story - we meet our hero, he/she begins a perilous journey toward some nearly unattainable, lofty goal.  There are dangers, there are hazards, there is the moment just before the final victory where you're certain everything is lost.  It's all there in "Glow."  And I'm convinced that the title track is an anthem for our times.  It may be the most uplifting piece of music I've ever heard.
Musically, it's great stuff.  There's wonderful, slithery guitar and bass that makes your stomach vibrate, but there are also soaring melodies and some outer space sounds that take you to a whole different place.  There are sweeping cinematic waves of sound and quiet, intimate piano solos.
It's amazing music.
It's "Glow in the Dark."  I highly recommend it.
