Progarchives.com is committed to helping progressive rock & related advertisers to benefit from our popularity and traffic.
To remain strong and innovative we need to accomodate advertisers.
In the past we have accepted generic advertising, throught networks
like Google AdSense and Tribal Fusion. We want to stop using these
generic advertisers and offer our traffic to direct banners advertisers
with a relationship to prog music.
To replace all the banners and text link ads from generic
advertisers from our third-party network, we need to find at least 30
banners advertisers. So we have create this special package:
- 30 randomly equally distributed rotative 728x90 banners available for the site and forum
- More than 80,000 impressions per month per spot
- USD 100$/month per spot
- Payments through PayPal, subscribe link at http://www.progarchives.com/about_us.asp#advertise - http://www.progarchives.com/about_us.asp#advertise
- Ads rotation starts April 1, 2008
For more details, contact us.

christ and the king.... 3k a month in ad revenue... nice gig if you get it. Either that is one hell of a yacht you are paying off or I can see why you dismissed donations and this site is a hell of lot more expenisve to maintain that any of us thought.

Indeed, it it expensive to maintain, to be the #1 prog rock site we need to:
- Have a fast and high availability servers for the site, databases (monster 1.5 GB), mp3
- Have 1,2 part time webmasters (me and Graphix) for now, we need $ to live
- Continuously working on the site for improvement, bugs fixing, hacker attack fixin, promotion to have more and more new members, etc...
We are also working a new version of the site almost ready to launch. Graphix did a masterful job on it. Completely new code : ASP.net, SQL Server optimization for fast data access, new new new features,...
We want and will keep on beign the #1 prog rock website !
I think that if everyone help us we will be able to find those 30 advertisers that will fill out the top banner ads so we can remove the others.
I want to hear your opinions...
Thanks , Max

no problem... was just about to put in order in with BTF.... I'll talk to the head honcho... and see if he has any interest... even with the dollar being ...f**ked in comparison to the euro.. the prices are comparable to what we can get stateside and the selection is great. See if they might want to increase their sales by advertising here. BTF doesn't get a lot of mentions here.. and I love shopping with them.

http://www.btf.it - www.btf.it - Italy's best-known mail order company. They have a small but very well-stocked store in Milan (where Micky and I have spent quite a few bucks in the past few months), and they specialise in everything RPI. Their prices are usually cheaper than mainstream stores (we're talking about at least 2-3 euros lower), and their selection is very good.

Though I can't help, just wanted to say it's much appreciated, advertisers being a necessary evil to keep the site going, much better for them and the site members if the ads are at least music related even if not necessarily prog. I think I speak for most members when I say I have not nor will I ever respond to an ad that isn't music related.

Perhaps what I'm gonna say is nothing to do with the subject, but I'm scared just like many other things from Internet, we'll have to pay to do better things in the page... I hope not..

Hey I had offered up advertising space to him for FREE on both my karts for the upcoming season, all he has to do is provide the decals. Can't beat free advertising, eh? Sure it's only the karts but if you wanted to go on my car it would run you $12,000 USD so I didn't even bother asking

I don't know how feasible this is, but here goes. Many of us music fanatics know the local Indie record or music shop. Would anyone have an idea on how to put together a "package " of these stores that would rotate from one ad to the next ? My local favourite , Spin-It, is not exclusively prog, but they are the place collectors, not only of music (LPs, CDs, DVDs, even 45s), but other collectibles also, head for when shopping or looking for something to buy. I know the big cities like Montreal, Toronto, New York, London etc ... have more than one. So while most may not have a big (if any) advertising budget, they might be amenable to sharing (time-sharing, if you will) an ad spot at PA.

Nice idea, they can split the spot in 2 for example and split the impressions.

I liked having the amazon.com link on the band pages; it didn't really come off as "generic" ads because the amazon blocks actually linked to the music on each artist's page. Makes for convenient shopping! Just a thought...
EDIT: ah! sorry. I hadn't realized that I was using Firefox with an adblock plug-in when I wrote that . At any rate, we should keep the link IMO, as well as the one to eBay.

Hi guys
it's started, we are now showing TOP banner ads from Prog Related Advertiser in the site and in the forum.
As now, only 3 advertisers subscribed.
- www.LPCDReissues.com , web store - Glass Hammer Band - Aetherius Band
We need more than that to remove the generic ads from the site, please help us. I have contacted most of the LABEL with new releases in 2008.
For more details http://www.progarchives.com/about_us.asp#advertise%20 - http://www.progarchives.com/about_us.asp#advertise
Any suggestions ? let me know
Thanks for the help.

I'd love to help Max, but most of the musicians I know are broke and not able to afford that kind of money for advertising!
Maybe with a new release, but not as an on going tihng, $100 is a lot of wad!
I am talking to people about it, but being met with laughter/coffee spitting/shouts of HOW MUCH?!!?!? so no success so far!
When the music business takes a massive financial nose dive (which, like it or not it IS) the ripples of effect keep on coming, cd plants, shops, it's not just musicians feeling the pinch, it's wide spreading. There is just no spare cash in the kitty.
