http://www.myspace.com/rishlooband - RISHLOO is a band from Seattle, sounding VERY MUCH like TOOL, but less experimental and less heavy...imagine late DREDG covering "Aenima", that's it Perfect for Crossover Prog, imho. I heard "Terras Fames" from 2004 (3 stars), now listening to "Eidolon" (2007) - MUCH better and interesting! Guys, do check them out!!!

i LOVE this band.....Eidolon is incredible!

I think they could easily fit into Xover or Heavy Prog.

if Xover are interested that'd be fine, they could also work in Heavy.. remind of Tool or a slightly proggier Coheed&Cambria

there are moments where they sound like system of a down meets coheed and cambria and others where the Tool vibe is sooo thick . i like it a lot. interesting stuff

I love tool, but I hate bands who try to sound like Tool.   Would I like this?

same with me (I even didn't like A PERFECT CIRCLE first despite Maynard's presence, but I like them now), but this band is pretty http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=46929 - enjoyable

Rishloo has long been one of my favorite indie bands! Drew's voice is very similar to Maynard's, yet somehow manages to stand on it's own excellence. Truly great stuff, I hope they get added!!!!!

If the Xover or Heavy Prog teams reject them I will propose them to the PMT,but they probably won't get accepted in progressivemetal.

I don't think Crossover has had a chance to listen to these guys.. I could add them to Heavy based on tracks 'Freaks and Animals' and 'El Empe' and move them if we see fit, but they border Crossover and I'd like to give that team a chance to hear them if possible..

Jody, Igor....

after some deliberation within AR and  Xover.... some public.. some private...

Xover accepts.... IF you two feel it is the best place for the group. Let us know what you decide

I've changed my mind after some more listening sessions...they're good band but TOOL-related sound doesn't always mean PROG. I mean I still like them but now I think I was too excited proposing them here. Jody what do you think?

I will propose them to the PMT Igor.

Anyway I wouldn't flood PA with GOOD but NOT PROG bands (and this is how I feel towards RISHLOO now)...but shall see

PS: have you got a WebMoney purse?

They are indeed progressive. I think it's funny how people compare them to Tool simply because their singer'v voice is similar to Maynard Keenan's. I mean, their respective singing styles are nothing alike, and furthermore, if the singer would be different, therefore cutting the Tool similarity, I would still find enough originality in them to suggest progressive as their genre.

I really like this band as well.  I found them a couple of years ago on cdbaby, and am glad I did.  While perusing YouTube I found a nice piece, approximately 10 minutes in length, with some live footage and a short interview with the band, and thought it'd be worth sharing.
