On the front page of PA there is a link for buying prog at mp3.ru.
This site is ILLEGAL and their claims to pay the artists royalties are LIES. This site is completely and utterly fraudulant and taking money from kids here at PA on false pretences.
PLEASE CAN WE REMOVE THIS LINK ASAP?????

Nothing wrong with legal downloading. It's all very well telling people to go out and buy things but prog fans will know that it's impossible to get CDs by a lot of the bands on PA from local shops. I went into a branch of HMV at the weekend and they had removed a whole aisle of CDs and replaced them with games.
Yes, you can buy them from Amazon etc but you still have to wait for them.

Download them from emusic.com ... it's much cheaper than buying the CDs, and totally legit. I have a 100 tracks/month subscription - so for the price of two CDs I can download 10 albums from emusic. I love it when bands & labels that allow legal downloads. Itunes is still too pricey compared to CDs, and I eagerly await the inevitable subscription model that they are said to be pushing for with the labels. But Emusic's choices are limited. I checked out a few acts that I would be interested in and frankly, for example, seeing the only Thin Lizzy album offered is a Live from 1975 gives me the idea that you're not getting the cream of the crop too often. Sudden Death records, a punk site, gives you great deals on their bands. I bought DOA's latest for 7.54CAD. That's 14 songs. Marillion's Happiness on the Road is another that I downloaded directly, and paid them $5.42 CAD. I'd love to be able to go online and pay reasonable prices for many bands, with the expectation that 99% of the price is not going to a record label or middleman. I understand that download sites do costs the bands, but they can't be anywhere as costly as the label/distributor/etc system. It pisses me off knowing that the artist gets little from a $20 list price. I'll buy albums new from the smaller acts like King's X, Los Lobos, Steve Earle and others, 'cause I know the sales finance the next album. But after that, I search out the second hand shops. I've said this before, and I know this might be a big leap for the site; but there must be a way to work with small labels to make available for download through PA all those RPI treasures, the Krautrock releases, and many more that just aren't going to be easily found in your local record store. And I for one, don't feel content with having an album shipped and delivered two weeks or more later. I want it now. Imagine Maneige moving a few thousand of their albums. Or Osannah getting even a few hundred sales. Prog could lead the way in providing its' fans with easy access to the treasure trove of a storied past, and also help newer bands with an easier way to get their music out to the masses. Of course emusic.com isn't usually the place where you find mainstream music ... sometimes - as it's the case with Thin Lizzy - some "B-albums" are available there. But you'll find many key albums of prog rock/metal there, and a lot of alternative artists which are related to prog (post-rock, experimental/avant-garde). I do exactly the same Mike. I know downloading is not to everyones tastes but it sure is a great way to track down new bands on the scene. They make it very easy too with their remote. They also have a huge catalogue of top prog artists from the likes of Inside Out, Prog Rock and so on.

I only have one more thing to add. You guys don`t know what your missing with all this downloading crap. I used to wait MONTHS to get albums and when they finally arrived man....................it was like Christmas. I also used to save money and take the freakin` train to New York City and Toronto from Montréal a few times a year just to hunt down that elusive rare album. Toronto`s Sam The Record Man used to be one of the best music stores in North America !
