What about the Italian style? I'm from Italy and i think that the Italian scene is (and of course was) fantastic. From the big names (PFM, Banco del Mutuo Soccorso) and also the small bands like Locanda delle Fate and Raccomandata Ricevuta di Ritorno. Post your ideas about the past and present scene. See u soon

Even though I realize it's not really representative of the Italian style, I'm a huge fan of Devil Doll.

Out of the big names, my other absolute favourite bands are AREA, MAXOPHONE, ARTI E MESTIERI (first 2 albums), MUSEO ROSENBACH, QUELLA VECCHIA LOCANDA.

*listening to Il Funeralle Della Luna* Man, this is quite lovely... what a beautiful melody. You have now converted me to their music. Good job!! Too bad I have no idea where to find their work.

Devill Doll is actually a collaboration between Italian and Slovenian musicians!

I like the Italian scene very much, especially the old masters: BMS, PFM, Le Orme, Metamorfosi, Pierrot Lunaire, Maxophone, Pichio dal Pozzo, Opus Avantra, Delirium, Saint Just, Alan Sorrenti, L'uovo di Colombo, QVL, RDM, Museo Rosenbach... It's a very rich scene!

I have only heard PFM and Lacuna Coil - Both different music styles and both outstanding

I'm a huge fan of the 70s Italian scene, so many wonderful bands to discover. I can't name my favourites because there are far too many! I know of most of the classic albums and I'm yet to find one I really dislike.
As for the modern bands, I don't know as many but there's still some fine stuff (Deus Ex Machina, DFA, A Piedi Nudi, etc).

I cant get past the singing in Deus, but I keep trying.

PFM I like very much and some Banco, especially Di Terra.

Still something I am discovering, but so far only PFM really grab me by the whatsits.Big smile

Semiramis only one album is great. Next great one album and forgotten groups are Campo Di Marte, Pholas Dactylus, Cervello.

Osannas Palepoli album is a must too, Alusa Fallax etc. etc.

Italian prog rock scene is so rich. They had more good groups than UK i think.

Delirium are a much overlooked band.
I really like their second album...Villagio.Quite Jethro Tull/Gravy Train in style but with some lovely Mellotron flourishes.

Do 'The Stanley' otherwise I'll thrash you with some rhubarb.
