In lieu of the recent and popular, "Ultimate Prog Tournament" which so frustratingly pit respective giants of prog against one another in an epic battle for global (progal?) domination, i present to you my own interpretation. Epics.
Choose wisely Grasshopper. . . .

This poll has been done....so many, many  times!!

TARKUS for me,the ultimate epic for me but i don't think it will win considering the hords of Genesis fans around hereBig%20smile
I don't think i still can listen to the other 2......too much listening since 1972 and a liitle bit tired of it even if they are good tracks.
TaRKUS Hearton the other side still bring me goosebumps even after all those years

Close to the Edge and Tarkus are excellent, but Close to the Edge is just too perfect. Supper's Ready is a decent dislocated epic.

though Tark is an all-time favorite, I'll give to Sups today

I'll go for Close to the Edge cause Supper's Ready has never been for me. It must be surely cause Genesis was never my band of prog. And for Tarkus prefering it much more than Genesis's one it has some mesy things going around although it's awsome together with Karn Evil 9.

its hard to argue against Yes having the greatest long jams!

Supper and Plague of Lighthouse Keepers are my two favourite epics ever. But Tarkus and CttE aren't far behind. And then there are many more as well

The best on the list is Supper's Ready. One of my top 5 songs of all time.

Tarkus is the one i haven't gotten tired of, but i have liked all of them at some point. Tarkus is also the one o have listened to the most.
CTTE may be the most epic one, though. Supper is also pretty epic, but CTTE is most like one solid song.

i searched for polls of this kind but didnt see anything and i wouldnt have posted this if i had found another one... maybe ill blame the infamous search button. i was curious as to how everyone measured up the classics.  CTTE for me... the I get up - organ climax might be my favorite piece of music ever written. been listening to a lot of Tarkus though lately.  this 'old prog' stuff is kinda cool i guess  ErmmEmbarrassed

"Tarkus" for me, though CTTE comes very close. "Supper's Ready", as I have said numerous times already, does very little for me, unfortunately.

Close to the Edge.....just.

"Supper's Ready" is about the only Genesis song I like a lot . "Tarkus" is wonderful too. But I am going with "Close to the Edge" though "Gates of Delirium is even better, and depending on my mood, I might select anything off of Tales too. \

I like "Plague of Lighthouse Keepers" more than "Din-din" and "Tarkie" too, but I think the idea here is the heavyweights of British Symphonic Prog". It might be interesting to do a poll about eclectic epics.

Given that there's no risk of The Gates Of Delirium winning, I can happily vote Tarkus.

The three of them are really favourites of mine, I like the 3 in all aspects.
But Close to the Edge is unsurpassable to me.

CTTE

Supper's Ready is the top for sure, Close to the edge is a rare bearable Yes tune, and Tarkus, well I don't really like otters so I can't say I've ever heard it!

Suppers,CTTE and tarkus in that order for me.

CTTE, definitely.

Supper's Ready had to happen to get to 'Epping Forest' and 'Lamb' - and I love it - but it's a disjointed, rough-and-tumble affair contrasted against CTTE.

ELP don't even register as a blip on my radar. Not enough variety there. Lots of organ (of course) and little else, save for Carl palmer's notoriously over-rated drumming. No love there.

CTTE

Plague of Lighthouse Keepers is a EPIC to be reckoned with also, I would have picked that if it were on the list.
