no offense but the search button is your friend. this has been done so many times, it's not funny anymore. cant we abolish all "favorite bands/albums/songs/moments" threads once and for all? it's sad enough that many polls are direct comparisons of bands/albums/whatsoever. it would be nice to go a bit deeper into the music and not just rate favorites or two bands against each other. i know it is fun, but I'm just saying that there is more.

on topic: look at my last.fm page, it got all the informations

PS: how prog is stratovarius?

Hey you are lucky.  I made the same mistake of posting a thread that already existed, on tool, and I had about 10 guys ripping on me, but whatever.  As for my favorite bands they are, in no particular order

 - Indukti( I know they have not done much, but S.U.S.A.R is one of my favorite albums, I cannot wait for a second realese)

- Yes

- Pink Floyd
-
 Van der Graff Generator

-  Gentle Giant

-  Tool( I do not care if any of you think they are prog or not.)

-  Genesis(before hackett left obviously.)

- liquid tension experiment(it gives me hope that one day dream theater will get a new singer, preferably one that writes his own music, or has some sort of musical talent.)

- Le Orme

-  Porcupine Tree

My goodness what is happening to this forum.
I've stopped coming on here so much that it's rare I'm on more than once a week, considering I used to be on a few times a day when I had the chance.
The problem is too many brainless threads like this and I'm sure because of this I've noticed a lack of participation with some of the older more experienced members as well and it's a damn shame.

Jesus christ, the only thing less original than posting a "favourite prog bands"-thread is whining about it. You only bump it by doing so anyway. It's not that i don't agree, but what are you gonna do about it? Kill him?

But being serious, I'm glad it gets bumped that's kind of why I did it, so some admin could possibly see it and start doing something about terrible threads like this.

Even as older people drop off, newer people come on and wish to discuss topics that are old hat to others.  Let's let them have their fun, just like we did.

I've seen lots of threads stickied to the top of sections so one would think if that is what they wanted done with common topics, that is what they would do. But they don't, so, as others have mentioned, they probably want newcomers to feel welcome to revisit these topics.

Aww, don't say that, you have everything from heavy to pure prog to eclectic and neo in there. Plus, this is the first time I come across a band called Deadsoul Tribe! Must look them up

The thread may have been done to death on the forum over the years but I also think that it's nice to see so many recently registered members kind of gather in a thread of their own. Welcome to all and sundry, hope you stick around and eventually get to know prog beyond the more well-known bands. The big ones are always worth a listen but there is also great delight in finding the more hidden gems...

Some of my favs:

Porcupine Tree
Yes
Pain Of Salvation
Rush
Genesis

Pink Floyd (they'll never leave)
Yes (neither these haha)
Supertramp
Atomic Rooster (really love DWBY and their debut and IHOTAR)
Jethro Tull
ELP

Black Widow (just their debut, really good, but not really heavy prog)
Caravan (just know to albums, ITLOGAP and FGWGPITN)
