Earthworks Underground Orchestra live 2006

I am not a big fan of Bruford's Solo stuff in general and the early Earthworks records didn't touch me. I found this 2006 live recording in a sales bin last year and it ended up yesterday on top of the pile and it was a nice surprise. The record contains mainly 'Earthworks' material arranged for a 9 piece brass & woodwind band  by Tim Garland who co-signed the record and recorded in NYC club on two nights. Great Brass & woodwinds arrangements  with  Fusion elements and outstanding solo and ensemble work. Not a groundbreaking record but you can just feel that all the musicians took great pleasure in playing these two shows. The sound is very balanced and warm and if you like Brass & Woodwind Fusion go for it!!

Tim Garland has amazing talent as an arranger and I'm really glad he's working with Bruford.  I haven't heard this record yet, but what I've heard of Garland with Earthworks is pretty good, even though it doesn't stretch any musical limits.
