I've opened my iPod up (multiple times) with a screwdriver and fixed it.  Big%20smile

No thanks to the Apple Store! Angry

I've never had to fix my iPod. I've dropped it several times and it still works perfectly. I can't see why everyone is whining about them breaking all the time...

I killed mine, but I fixed my brother's cd - mp3 player the same day, so I felt fine, even though I had to purchase another one.

How did you fix it?

I'm on my third, a Zune, keeping fingers crossed.  Never attempted any surgeries on any of them.  (First was a Creative Labs, second was a Toshiba Gigabeat, all high capacity 30 GB 40 GB and now 80 GB)  Not trying to brag or anything.  Just really surprised at how much I became infatuated with solid state digital music players.

I only break headsets - getting my third in a years time tomorrow. My Samsung YP-U1 is unbreakable (no hard drive, no external power - just a USB connection and enough memory for one days worth of music). Smile

I also break headsets, Angelo, so it's not only you!

My brother has his Nano with him and it's so damned small... but it almost looks unbreakable.

Oh and it's very un-user friendly.  I couldn't fathom how to use it properly.

I am sure it's a fine bit of kit though, but if I get an MP3 player, I'll get something else.  I hear the new Sony's look quite good... they've scrapped their software and will now being using WMP... which isn't exactly brilliant either, but still...

Only a day's worth?  Are you sure you're a real prog fan?

I usually don't break mp3 players and similar devices but I do seem to have a unique ability to kill almost any headphones in a few weeks except Sennheisers which last months despite in some cases being cheaper and of worse quality than the other stuff. Confused

You're not doing anything cruel or unusual to those headphones now are you?

Well I do use my mp3 player a lot at university, after all I need something to do whilst in lectures. Wink

ah man I worked out what it was

you see I'd been saving non-music data onto my mp3 player to move it between computers but my player seems to have an upward limit on how many files it can deal with - it tries to finalize everything whether it's playable media or not

basically don't save so much porn to your portable

I have serious issues with breaking headsets.  I need new earphones about every month these days.  My ipod has lasted over two years, though, so I guess it balances out eventually.

No Kidding. If you don't have at least a week's worth of albums to choose from, you are just a poser.
