Finally Moonsorrow has been added to the site. Even though I never campaign for them to be here, and it´s understandable why it was that they were nto here, Im happy they finally are. If you have yet to listen to them I recommend their latest (and proggiest) album, it only contains 2 epics! And one of them is the BEST METAL SONG EVER... only behind Mehsuggah´s I, but still incredible!!!

Haha, it caught my eye to on the recently added list. This band surely deserved a place here.

I added them today after the PMT cleared them. A band I love (prog or not), I love all albums but the two that stand out most are Havitetty and Voimasta Ja Kuniasta.

Not sure about this addition, they didn't strike me as prog at all but this isn't my website so whatever.
I think Finntroll should be next due to their progressive use of polka instrumentation and rhythms in metal.

Finntroll? Isn't that a bit too much?
Yay for Moonsorrow though, their latest release is unquestionably very progressive.

their last two at least I feel are prog metal... and the fact that they keep getting more and more progressive means they can very well be one of the next big prog metal bands, so don't miss out on their great music, pure prog or not!
and of course, I'm the awesome guy that suggested them

I love Moonsorrow & Finntroll. But if they're adding folk metal to PA; they should start with Skyclad.

They were suggested a few times in the past, but only this time around was there a Yes vote by the members of the PMT (of which I am no longer a member).
They were approved thanks to their last two albums which show a movement and then progress into a different path than the one previously taken with their Viking metal approach and so were not approved based on them being "folk metal".
Personally, I love their music and all their albums (regardless of whether it's prog or not) and there isn't one release I think is sub par, but the two standing out for me are Voimasta Ja Kuniasta and Havitetty.

I have 2001, 2003 and 2005 releases at my disposal (can always borrow from a friend)...but this 2007 release with 2 epics only...got me curious...

moonsorrow are great , but i think it is only in the boundaries in folk/viking metal, although their latest album have some progressive moments, their preveous albums aren't prog at all,

Well, I share my enthusiasm of the album with you, and it is on the top of my 2007 favourites, but I disagree about your statements:
" have to hand it to you, just as about anyhting in metal, the majority of bands in the genre actually quite... suck. But there are two or three bands that actually sound quite good"
There aren't that many bands, granted, but I for one like many of the other bands, but that's a matter of taste.
"If you aren´t familiar with Moonsorrow and/or the Viking metal scene and want to get an idea of how it must sound... well, take Opeth´s long compositions, add the epicness of ...In the Woods, pour some Braveheard (yes, the movie) into the mix and you´ll have a pretty good idea of how it sounds. Ah, and put a lot of testosterone and stinking sweat... yes, Viking stinks! If there ever was a manly metal, this is it! "
Viking Metal came/comes from black metal origins with its shrieks, long textural guitar riffs and atmosphere but they added more melody, anthemic choruses, pagan/folklorish elements and it is not as pompous as the so-called Symphonic black metal (Dimmu borgir for example). As for Manly metal, well, I can think of others, but nevermind that.
Anyway, thanks for that review and I find this to be a great album (though I am sure many will dislike it).
