these are 3 of my favorite album closers I can think of. Which one do you enjoy more?
Note: Don't vote for your favorite album Note2: Don't vote for the song, just vote according to that song's climax/ending.

"Life in Motion" is the best song on the list, but for the ending, it's without a doubt "To Be Over".

Hmmm.....Throw Down the Sword (Wishbone Ash) has a pretty monstrous ending.

Happy to see To Be Over in this poll. I think it's one of those songs that don't get talked about often enough (probably because it's on the same album as TGOD). One of my favorite endings for sure- climax written all over it, leaving you thirsty for more.

I havent heard the Flower Kings album, but neither Camel nor Yes comes as incredible endings.... my vote will always go to the ending of In the court of the Crimson King, love it, love it, love it

Lunar Sea by a mile of those listed but Throw Down the Sword is damn close - sad it's not on the list.

Yeah, I agree that Throw Down the Sword has a very very good ending. Probably the only enjoyable couple of minutes in the whole album.
Supper's Ready's last 9 minutes are amazing. I probably should have included it, though that fadeout at the end bothers me.
Yes' To Be Over's ending has a heavenly harmony of vocals and instrumentation that moves me more than almost anything.
Camel's Lunar Sea ends with a very energetic pace, plays one of the best guitar solos I have ever heard (and I don't really dig Camel), changes time signature into an addicting bass/synth interplay, and ends with a fantastic atmospheric synthesizer with one of the best guitar riffs of all times (IMO).
The Flower Kings' Life In Motion, while not their greatest track, ends with a very powerful anthem of peace and love with fantastic singing and keyboard playing.

Nione of the above. I'm going with the "As sure as eggs is eggs" section of Supper's Ready.

Have you heard Steve's acoustic and instrumental version on Natural Timbres? It's a huge improvement over the original. The last I checked he's got samples from that album on his website.

my best album ending would go to Three Friends......it's one of the most beautiful songs
|

Yea, Three Friends has a really beautiful vocal harmony-based finale. It tends to make me rewind in order to hear it again.

I just reviewed three friends and gave it only 2 stars, but I mentioned that the title track is the best!
I love the end of Renaissance "A Song for All Seasons" or Strawbs' "Ghosts". Full of emotion not to mention heavy organ and/or orchestration.

It's always good when a TFK album finally ends. Sorry.
Anyway, To be over for me.

I personally think that none of those are, because the best ending is the ending of In the Presence of Enemies by Dream Theater. (so dramatic, makes my spine tingle every time)

I kind of like the ending of Guru Guru's "Mani und seine Freunde". not performed by the band itself; instead they present us with an excerpt of a live recording of Champion Jack Duprey. very original ending indeed

agreed here too. Hard to imagine a more majestic and emotional ending as this masterpiece, especially from Apocalypse in 9/8 through to the end of As Sure as Eggs is Eggs (Aching Men's Feet). The epitome of a prog climax.

Everything is magnificent about the "Relayer" album, even that mantric chanting on soft percussion, plus the final guitar lines. I voted for the "Relayer" ending, just to make it "official".
Kind regards.

I voted for To Be Over, but would also have included As Sure as Eggs is Eggs and Van der Graaf Generator's Pawn Hearts ending - spine tingling!

I love the ending of Supper's Ready. Makes me feel like I'm being drawn into the golden light of some heavenly paradise. My favorite ending has to be The End off of the Beatles Abbey Road. Puts an end to the medley and it really was the end of their career, because it was record after Let It Be. I wish they would've kept Her Majesty off though. Usually I just stop the album before it comes on.

I don't know The Flower Kings one, so not voting.
I find Lunar Sea pretty bland, and I like To Be Over, though I don't think it's in the top 10 endings, for me.
These'd be something like:
Vital Signs - Rush Cygnus X-I - Rush Islands - King Crimson Fracture - King Crimson Crime Of The Century - Supertramp The Fountain Of Salmacis - Genesis Supper's Ready - Genesis Time Machine - Colosseum Lady Fantasy - Camel Echoes - Pink Floyd

The ending for Echoes was so strange. I love it. The Shepard Scale at the end makes me feel like I'm being sucked into a void.

My guess is that To Be Over will win as it's the one most people are familiar with. Should people only vote if they know all three albums?
And I'd like to throw in a mention for "Starless", closer for KC's "Red"

I don't know the Flower Kings album, so I didn't vote. Doesn't seem to be any harm in posting my thoughts, though.

Thanks for mentioning "Starless" from "red" - that would have been my first choice, shortly followed by "Awaken" from "Going for the One" - To be Over is pretty, but it's not Awaken!
