I've really been giving Galleon's latest album, Engines of Creation some heavy play this week and it's really growing on me fast and likely to make my top ten at the end of the year.
They're from Sweeden and in the Neo Prog vein with some heavier elements to their sound and are great musicians too. Only one review (thanks Erik) up till now so I'll do one after a couple more plays. Anyone else like it?
Now I'll have to start buying up all the back catalogue.
And what's your album of the week?......Old or new.

My album of this week,
Mr Bungle - Mr Bungle (1991)
Funk-Metal, Jazz, Circus Music and Avant-Garde in a vulgar yet incredibly humoristic way. A personal favorite of mine ever since I got it nearly two years ago. Although I prefer Disco Volante over it, it's by far the most playful and fun Bungle album, in my opinion. I've got a real kick on it recently so it's the album of this week for me now

album of the week.... hmmmm... let me think on that....
oh yeah... this one I have been listening and playing along with,
nonstop with for the better part of the last two weeks now. Loved
this group from the start.. and sort of drifted away when I got heavy
into the Italian stuff... just for sh*ts and grins I took it to work
one day and had one of those out of body experiences.. without any
supplemental stimulation .. just the music itself was enough.

some fellow named Hendrix. Never heard of him until the other day. Pretty Good.
okay seriously, I've been renewing my appreciation for the master himself this week, and I believe this to be in the very top level of double-albums, not a single duff moment on the entire trip.

I'd almost forgotten I own that album. Must admit I wasn't mad on it at the time it got released. I guess I was expecting something not so far removed from Faith No More. I'm curious to give it another listen.

Zamla Mammaz Manna - Familjesprickor (RIO, 1980)
Decided to give this a spin a few days ago and it once again blew my mind. After three spins in a row this still stands as my favorite SMM/ZMM/VZ album. Although it shows much more avant tendencies than other Samla albums, this is still a very entertaining and playful ride. A RIO highlight, and my album of this week!

Present - Triskaidekaphobie (RIO, 1981)
Recently got Cuneiform Records' 2-in-1 deal with Present's (Univers Zero offshoot) two first releases, and while I thought both albums were excellent, I must say that I was especially mindblowed by this one. This stuff is very complex ,sinister and dark but never boring even though the music can be a bit repetetive and intense. It's like UZ minus the horn instruments overall, but this might be even better. Highly recommended to fans of UZ especially!

With all this Zep activity this week it has really put me in the mood to listen to them and this newly remastered and expanded version of TSRTS is far superior to the original release and getting some heavy playing at the moment.

Univers Zero - Heresie (RIO, Chamber Rock, 1979)
Having a kick on UZ lately, I've played this album everyday since the beginning of this week. This is one of the darkest and most frightening albums ever made, but it's also incredibly cohesive and well put together. Brilliant musicianship and nerveshaking melodies makes this one of my favorite RIO albums. I just love playing it in the dark!

Excellent Canterbury album! if you like Caravan, Egg and the likes, you will love this!

Another album to add to the list:
Tr-Ond & The Suburban Savages - s/t
http://www.myspace.com/thesuburbansavages - http://www.myspace.com/thesuburbansavages
Taken from their myspace:
Tr-Ond (from PANZERPAPPA) made tunes, and cooked coffee.Thomas (from THE SAMUEL JACKSON 5 and NOW'VE GOT MEMBERS) drank the coffee, and tweaked and turned the tunes inside out. The rest of the savages (Anders from PANZERPAPPA and the unknown Hans Petter) were whipped into shape (with feathers). Foreign cooks (Truls from TULS AND THE TREES and Sissyfus from NOW'VE GOT MEMEBERS) were allowed into the kitchen, to add their delicious spices and good skills to the final product.
The debut album "tr-Ond and The Suburban is out now... It's distributed by www.musikkoperatorene.no, so you should be able to order it from all over the world by contacting mailto:[email protected] - [email protected]

In all honesty, I got tired of posting in the "What's in your CD player...." thread. It got monotonous and I don't think that posts were really noticeable. I'll just post my albums of the week, it seems much more useful.
This week:
Adagio - Underworld
Ahhh!! AWESOME Neo Classical Prog Power Metal. Similar to Symphony X but not a copy, these guys have nothing to envy to SX!!! I love the mood of the album. Very neo classical and very recommended!

Hm.
Getting some likeable progressive metal is always a good thing, so La Masquerade Infernale - Arcturus gets my recommendation. I love the inclusion of violas, cello and piano on some tracks from it, especially Ad Astra.

It's a band that used to not apreciate but now it's getting much love thx for Camel that Camel is also a fave now but let's update things up :
Also loving Foxtrot that a month ago didn't like it at all!
Nursery Cryme I think it's still an album I don't really understand what's really good... Though having Musical Box..
And of course SEBTP and TLLDOB..

Its a limited edition box set of their Century Media years (3000 editions only, I keep forgetting to add it to their page here). It contains:
Mandylion Nightime Birds How to Measure a Planet? (2 disc) Superheat if_then_else Sleepy Buildings In Motion Accessories (2 disc)
The only thing I dont like about it is the production of the first half of the live disc In Motion, which is a bit shoddy.

Gee I forgot about this thread. Have so much albums I could post here, but in stead I'll just reiterate what you say and also mention this fine album by Nemo (which got a mediocre review in DPRP with which I disagree, but then again I rarely see eye to eye with the reviewers there).
