Besides group like AmAndA (fantastic second album), Hypnos 69 (soon added, having released thefourth album recently), Quantum Fantay(2nd album just out), Al Dente (this guys are wild >> addition soon) and Funk Sinatra (, there are also a few surprises on the way from Madelgaire (prog folk), the Belgian scene is bubbling/boiling overboard.

The latest sensation is our very own progmonster Domenico Solazzo, who's been frenetically releasing sombre autoproduction between the dark RIO and sound collages.

His most recent project PaNoPTiCoN is a jazz rock fusion (somewhere between Nucleus, Davis, Soft Machine etc...  and free jazz with RIO twists) group that seems to improvise their concerts as none of them are the same, some even veering space rock. The collective has played in formations from 5 to 11members, thus assuring a constant renewal

Fronted by the delicious Geraldine Clement on the flute (when present) and the powerful Jean-Paul Lossignol (trumpet), this gang is mostly very young music students some not even aware of names like Nucleus), drummer Dom being one of the older player in his mid 30's...

Thanks for the tip, brilliant stuff!

And yeah... the most progressive bands' threads here are usually the ones with the lowest number of views/comments.

Thanks for the info and links, Hugues. I liked what I heard and I'll look into those other bands you mentioned I don't know of (I only know Hypnos 69 whose Myspace songs I liked but weren't that memorable).

Ah, ok, I will, thanks.
When I have more time I'll investigate those other bands you mentioned, I'm very intrigued (and besides, the Belgian scene has had so far many wonderful bands).

I've got a Hypnos 69 record somewhere (they're on Elektrohasch, I think?) but I'm afraid I don't have a clue about any of the others. But they sound well worth checking out, so thanks for the heads up!

Actually both Amanda and Quantum Fantay are in.

I will try to see if I can include Dom Solazzo's oeuvre in experimental....
