Great list, Andrea, though I don't agree with some of the placements (Made in Japan, Sea Shanties and the Rush stuff are far too low in the list, but that's only my opinionWink...).

It's interesting that you consider ELP's Pictures at an Exhibition as Heavy Prog... I think you do have a point there. I don't agree with Asia, though, and I am a bit surprised about Islands... I find the album a bit on the soporific side, and the only 'heavy' track is "The Letters". If I had to mention any KC albums as examples of the heavier side of prog, I'd take Red, SaBB and The Power to Believe.

Remember it is only a list in Heavy Side of prog and related field. Asia and ELP are two examples of boundaries band in this field . And the position changes every day in my head!!!

In every case... I omitted some album, compilations...  Because in the other thread only I should give a representation of the sub-genre (That isn't a very sub genre).

But I wait your lists!

In fact "Islands" aren't Heavy. But I adore the 70's KC and I think that "Islands" is one of the top 5 Prog albums in the world. Heavy or not!!!

Lots of great albums there and many of which would feature as my own favourites.

Here's some I rate very highly in no particular order.

Led Zeppelin- I, II, III,IV, Physical Graffitti, Prescence (Perhaps more a straight Heavy Rock album though but it does contain Achillies Last Stand).

Deep Purple - In Rock, Machine Head, Made in Japan.

Rush - 2112, A Farewell to Kings, All the Worlds a Stage, Hemispheres, Permanent Waves, Moving Pictures, Conterparts, Snakes and Arrows.

King Crimson - Red, Starless and Bible Black, The Power to Believe

Uriah Heep- Demons and Wizards, The Magicians Birthday

Rainbow - Rising

Van Der Graaf Generator - Pawn Hearts, Godbluff

The Mars Volta - Amputecture

Wishbone Ash - Argus

A very intgeresting list (but i don't think compilation albums should be included).

Surely Beck-Ola is not even in the same league as Truth.
