PLEASE let us know if you find out anything ..... I too heard this rumour this afternoon and as yet have been unable to confirm it....... I REALLY hope it's true, the London gig is on my daughter's birthday and I'll be chaperoning a bunch of 12 year olds..... I tried to persuade her to have a "Riverside" party but as yet she reamins unconvinced........ how selfish!

Huw and Stephen???
I shall do some sleuthing!
I spoke to Piotr and the Riversdie merch guy (forgot his name....sorry if you're reading!) at Symforce, they were such the nicest people you could EVER wish to meet! I asked the merch guy where in UK they would be playing, he said (imagine heavy Polish accent here) "Oh I forget the names, but of course some of the most famous cities in the uk"
LYDNEY ROCKS!!!!
Sometimes I wonder what impression of the UK visiting bands go home with!

Hi there. Huw from Summer's End here, a couple of days ahead of the official announcement I can confirm that Riverside are playing at Lydney Town Hall on November 29th. Support will be from Also Eden (there's a surprise then!).
Tickets will be on sale towards the middle of next week. Telephone number for the Town Hall is 01594 843595 and not as previously posted (that nunber is the town council).
Full details will be in the official announcement in the next week.

Andy, it's a Town Hall! You expect a bar there?
I think we're meeting at a pub first though. It would be great if you could come though.
Oh, I have to 'phone for my ticket? I hate 'phoning people.

Whoa there! We have a bar - me and my better half run it. If people want to meet before the show we'll open up early and I think we'll also be doing burgers, chilli and curry for thems as what come straight from work (or are just hungry).
Menus with pre-order forms will be sent out with tickets which will be available by post.
Hope this helps

I wasn't expecting the Town Hall to have a licensed bar. Sounds like it will be fun!
So I presume I have to 'phone for a ticket as soon as they're made available?
Also, any chance of getting Indukti down in the future?

Absoluely we'll be happy to provide some veggie options. How about roasted vegetable fajitas, mushroom stroganoff or a good old spicy veggie burger? It will make it a lot quicker on the night if we can take advance orders (hence the menu and form to be sent with tickets).
Cheers, Sharon (the aforementioned better half!)

It's actually an excellent venue. It's a purpose built victorian dance/concert hall with very good acoustics and a good size stage. There are even half decent dressing rooms for the bands.
We dipped our toes in the prog water with Magenta at the hall back in June and that was a good night. If the Riverside gig is a success we hope to promote a monthly prog gig here.
|
Posted By: VanderGraafKommandöh

Nice! It does indeed look like a good venue.
Wish list:
Indukti Astrid Proll (I can talk to band, but they're busy for the time being and as they're from Puerto Rico, they have travel expenses and suchlike, so it's best if they do a UK tour) Anathema Pain of Salvation
That's just a start and a bit of an adventurous list.

I know I'm kinda biased too, but it really IS a cracking venue. Good sound and a good sized stage. For those of you that have been to the Oakwood venue in Rotherham that the CRS used to use, it's a bit like that. Generally a nice place to watch bands. The Magenta gig there a few weeks ago (it was their Nearfest warm up) was excellent and well attended.
I don't think Huw has a blank cheque to just bring anyone there, though. I think any band playing would need to demonstrate they can draw a decent crowd - and that's sometimes a problem for prog bands!
Pain of salvation? We've just brought em to the UK - wadaya want, blood?

^^^ don't take any notice of James (Geck0)...he gets over-excited very easily (just ask his girlfriend....)
concerning the Lydney gig.... we'll make sure there's a reasonable turnout of Grey Roomers, as we certainly want it to become a regular fixture.....

Where is Lydney? Wait I can guess the general direction because of Fannydangle's unadulterated joy. Miles away from me!!
What's wrong with the North West ??( blunt replies will be dealt with by Termination...)
|
Posted By: VanderGraafKommandöh

Nothing is wrong with the North West. I guess if all turns out well, they'll return to our shores and play other venues. For now, it seems they're only playing the two venues in the UK.
You should feel lucky they're coming to play over here at all!
Lydney is in the Forest of Dean (Gloucestershire, not Herefordshire, apparently) and a drive down from Bolton may not be as bad as you think. There's B&Bs and others may actually stay overnight, so you're welcome to crash down there. Alternatively, you could stay at Fannydangle's Yoof Hostel, which is north of Lydney and actually on its way to the North West of England.

What is this official announcement of which you speak? I've been plastering the news over most of the prog and prog-message boards across the known prog universe.
The news is dripping out from Inside Out very slowly - the dates are only 2 months away, slap bang in one of the most intense periods of gig activity all year - the run up to Christmas.
The London gig is definately on. Support will be the hot, new, local Prog-Metal act Haken who have not one but two nifty guitarists!!

The last.fm webmonkeys have already gone and added all the dates which were not already there. I've added the details of the show supplied by Huw
http://www.last.fm/event/355698 - http://www.last.fm/event/355698
Now all those who are attending (and who are members of last.fm) can flag their intended presence to the organisers.
We've got 20+ already for the London show despite having just starting our marketing campaign. Myspace bulletins have been sent, flyers are on their way and they'll be an advert in Classic Rock mag (so hopefully they will mention the gigs elsewhere in the listings).
Martin Hudson is intending to publish the next CRS mag towards the end of November, so it didn't seem like a great idea to advertise in there, as it wouldn't have given people much notice.

I was handing out flyers for Riverside outside the Mean Fiddler after the Kamelot / Threshold/Serenity show last night.
The response was fairly good and a good number of people knew the band and said that they would be going along - it was certainly encouraging.

Don't worry - Fodphil from the Bloodstock Forum is going to Lydney (with the Family - well he lives there) and if my memory serves me right, he doesn't have much hair.

I've just ordered my ticket off the SonicBond website, so all I need to do now, is wait.
So who's still going beside Fannydangle and the guy from the Bloodstock Forum?

Is Nicky still coming?

I meant my ticket. I don't think Nicky is coming, alas. It's too close to the Within Temptation gig.
Of course, if I could persuade her to come, then she'll be more than within temptation, she'll be completed tempted.

Wow, Jared is kind! Maybe it's because you resemble my girlfriend.
I actually also need to get their new album. I think a trip to InsideOut's website is required, then I can get Indukti's S.U.S.A.R. at the same time.

You make it sound like M&S food. Is Albatross playing in the background, perchance?
I have the menu too, I should really have a butchers at it. I was quite surprised how small the ticket was though...

Pre-drinkies?
Non-alcoholic for me, I'll be driving. But yes, I'll be there, in a pub. Of course, they have a licensed bar at the Town Hall, so we can meet there, unless you want to go to a different establishment?
Just don't get too drunk though, you may end up in Poland...

Since Jarred will be driving as well, it looks like it might just be me having drinks of the alcoholic kind.
