Hey there, I'm going to see Dream Theater in Salt Lake tomorrow.  How's the tour been?  How do the Systematic songs sound live? I'm so excited!!

I saw them supporting the Train of Thought album, and the sound and performance were both really lame. I hope they've improved those 2 facets of their show. But those aren't really important, what's important is they looked cool.

I saw them twice. LaBrie's voice has been much better live recently which was their biggest problem previously with live performances(The second biggest being setlists). The band doesn't do much to excite onstage and it really annoys me how often Portnoy drops drumsticks he flings in the air, but I'd say the concerts are very enjoyable if you enjoy just watching people perform their music without much of a stageshow.

Seen em' three times and each time it was great. I live in New York so thats the beginning of the tour...so LaBrie's voice is probably always fresh, so I'm suspected of bias. They do have DVD's though and you can see he does have a problem. Regardless the instruments played are usually flawless and there is no stage presence.

Just go and have yourself a good time!

The exact opposite is true ... I've been to two DT shows, and both had excellent sound and performance. What didn't matter at all was how they looked.Tongue

I saw them last night in Berkeley and I have to say I think I enjoyed myself more than when I saw them open for Yes and when I saw them on the Octavarium tour. They're really putting a great show and pulling out some great/underplayed songs on this tour. And one word. Keytar.Wink

I'm disappointed - neither of these players are avant-garde!

Al di Meola.
