Did anyone catch Genesis on VH1's Rock Honors recently? After a somewhat hilarious introduction by Robin Williams they performed rather straightforward, uninspired versions of 'Turn It On Again' and 'No Son of Mine'. The sound itself was pretty decent and it was nice to see Chester Thompson and Daryl Stuermer with the full 'live' lineup. But it seemed like a mere read-thru, going thru the motions with Collins looking bored to death. What was your impressions? This was definatley not the long awaited reunion everyone was talking about.

yes, the only entertaining thing about Genesis was William's dedication. The other bands sounded good though. Ozzy sounds a lot better now that he's sober.

ZZ Top is still spot-on as well.

It was one of the lamest things I've ever seen. Phil was melodramatic and cheesey, the music was boring, the performance was boring, then when Phil went to play drums he played the exact same thing and rendered himself redundant. I don't mean to trash Phil over the other two, but seriously he was really lame. The had backing vocals that were inaudible and I do not understand why the band with such a cheesey, stereotypical 80s sound would reunite 20 years later to play for audiences when they still have a cheesey, stereotypical 80s sound. Its not like the sound would improve over time and it would sound really good. Robin Williams' speech was even lame. Not nearly as lame as the Genesis performance, but still pretty lame. You would think an improvisatory master would be able to concoct as fantastic introduction for his favorite band, but I guess he wasn't "on" that night.

Heart was more interesting to watch and they didn't really do much of anything!
