I am reviewing a Muse "album" ("Hullabaloo" - double CD) and I incidently saw that there is a single to review. It is of course not the first time that I have noticed this when reviewing on PA. I could agree that some EP deserve to sit here because some hold several songs and can even be considered as mini-album, if we are going to have all the possible singles of all the bands featured on PA I'm afraid it'll be too much. Something that I do not understand either is that several ones are featuresd but not a lot ? How comes ? My point is that we should get rid of all the singles availbale for review.

I agree with you as well, but in the collab, I am a minority, and the subject has alreay been decided. The singles stay. ------------- let's just stay above the moral melee prefer the sink to the gutter keep our sand-castle virtues content to be a doer as well as a thinker, prefer lifting our pen rather than un-sheath our sword |

| I don't see why singles shouldn't be included. However, to have studio albums, singles and compilations in the same list isn't the best of ideas. I'd prefer a system like Allmusic has, where studio and live albums are in one list, singles and EPs in another and compilations in a third. |

This has been discussed (at least once, since I opened a thread on singles by myself)...
My opinion is that only informative singles should stay. I mean -- those containing material unavailable on the original full albums. Others are redundant.

It is a big mess when you put on useless post- or pre-album singles. Big bands on the Archives have lots of singles, many just because the band released those singles, instead the music is made of two worthy songs of an album or such. Porcupine Tree everyone? In other cases, though, the EPs/singles are contemplating "short made music". I personally admire deeply the experimental/post rock trend, which has EPs/singles of original, fresh music, rarely a piece in collocation with an album's previous release. So some singles have complete significance. Thus the "clean-up" should be made within the policy of EPs/singles that have unreleased or newly made music, that resemble only the short format of a release and, in rest, promote new music...and so. -------------

Once again, this is the owners decision. It is they who have said that singles/EPs should be included.
An unofficial policy which most members appear to work to is to only add those which are of interest, for example due to the inclusion of tracks not otherwise available on albums.

Yes but why must it all be displayed on the same page? Or if it does, why mixed up with albums.
We could have a list of albums first (Official releases)
Then a list of singles.

I really believe that Snow Dog has made a wonderful suggestion. On top of that I see that he is a Magazine fan. This is one of preferred bands form the 78-81 era. Although categorized in the new-wave genre, their keybord oriented music ("Permafrost", "Back to Nature", "Parade" and "Motorcade" could even be considered as almost prog.
Anyway, this was a distraction of mine, but congratulations again Snow Dog.

Why thank you ZZ. Yes, Magazine is also one of my favourites of that period. Sort of Post Punk/New Wave/ Art Rock?
