The ones on their progarchive site, they're not there anymore.

Now how am I supposed to enjoy the hard, tireless work of Peter Hammill without paying for it??

You could always buy some of their great music...

Just a suggestion

Aerosol/Manunkind:

Re VDGG, we were contacted by reps for Peter Hamill who asked us to remove the mp3s, since we were not authorized to provide them.  We may still be able to get such authorization, but it may take time.  I'm not sure what the deal is with Thieves Kitchen.

Peace.

And risk leaving a hole in my budget the size their music can't fill? That's how much these things cost around here

But surely the music is worth it

(Only partly kidding - I appreciate how tough it is over there to get good prog cheaply!)

A lot of music surely is; but is Thieves' Kitchen music worth it? You can't really tell unless you hear some of it. Prog musicians deserve to be rewarded for their job much better than they are, but so should the listener get value for his/her money. A glimpse into the music is indispensible; I think it's a fair deal.

Hm, seems I've misled you, Maani. I misunderstood Aerosol and thought that VdGG took mp3s off THEIR website, not the archives. The links to the mp3s on the Thieves' Kitchen website don't work anymore. I don't think there have ever been any TK mp3s in the archives. Sorry for any confusion I caused

but technically I didn't say that.

VAN DER GRAAF mp3s are back online...

http://www.progarchives.com/Progressive_rock_discography_BAND.asp?band_id=343 - http://www.progarchives.com/Progressive_rock_discography_BAN D.asp?band_id=343

From PETER HAMMILL:

to be honest, though, i think you can put them back up. the copyright in these is charisma/virgin/emi's, rather than mine. in a way i was writing in the first place to see how "straight" you were. which is very, as it turns out.

my own view is that these mp3s will act as an ad for the cds rather than competition.

so, without actually giving my assent to this venture, if you see what i mean, i'll turn a blind eye towards it...

I've recently seen another band's Web site giving a URL for the band's listing on ProgArchives (which has an MP3 from one of the band's albums), so clearly there are other artists who have the same enlightened opinion as Hammill.
