I wanted to vote "the only reason I like ELP" so I picked the closest analog :)

I'd like to vote for it being "The Titillate track..." as it's totally tit, erm titillating indeed.  Yep, it's pretty darned suite; I mean it's a pretty sweet, erm suite.  Good song.

As title tracks go, I do prefer "Trilogy" to "the Tarkus Suite," and "Endless Enigma" off Trilogy to it as well.  Trilogy is my fave ELP album.

Many options apply:

A 5 star suite  - YOU BET. It makes the whole album be 5-star worthy, even if the other tracks by themselves wouldn't go past a 3

A piece of classic music with rock instruments - yes, almost. It really transcends the genre.

Only a long song - well, not ONLY, but it is indeed a long song.Big%20smile

My preferred ELP composition - CHECK. YES.

A self indulgent composition - A little bit, but thanks ELP for being self-indulgent.

The unique masterpiece of prog - well, not the only masterpiece , but a true one.

Tarkus - mmm...I don't know about this one... Maybe the suite's true name is "The Story of a Girl trapped in an attic with two old fat ladies telling her stories about their blossoming years and their lost of purity".... But then again maybe it is indeed the name, TArkus.

The Title track of ELP 2nd work.... again, you amaze me with such observation skills. Big%20smile

Oh my God, I don't know it - I don't know my God either....

Oh my God...Who's ELP - Exaggerated Lying Pricks...

Big%20smile

A 5 star suite

5 star suite.

Not really a masterpeice, not ELP's best long song and quite a long way short of being the best long song. However it is a very inventive and orginal peice with some excellent production tricks.Perhaps a bit dated now compared to their better (IMO) Karn Evil 9 suite though.

A 5 star suite, but not my favourite ELP song (which is either Take a Pebble or C'est la Vie).

If I were to make a top 3 of the best songs I ever heard by any band or artist, then Tarkus would be in it. In fact, I listened to it once again this evening (from the dvd Beyond The Beginning). A fabulous piece of music. Keith Emerson's chord sequences are so good, and I love it when Greg Lake starts to sing (have to report that one also in Erik Neuteboom's goosebumps thread). How much better can prog become?

Sounds dated now, more than KE9. How come this poll is still open when Mandy's Prologue one got closed for being silly?

A pretty good epic, a classic indeed! But I for one cant see the "5 star" in it...besides, I think Karn evil 9 is by far ELP best piece of music
