It seems to me that some people just go here to ramble on about non-prog subjects.
Am I Crazy, or am I right?

Of course I do. The amount of amazing bands I've discovered here, I could never fully thank progarchives enough for.
This website has a ton of members who know about 10 times more prog than I do, so discussing music in intelligent debates with them is wonderful.

No, I was looking for the Progressive Insurance Company, somehow Google came up with this site... I got in, I found as lot of crappy music and a lot of guys who needed a voice of wisdom and tranquility, so I decided to make everybody believe I actually like this pretentious music so I can be heard. That's my truth. I'm not here for the music at all. I love Justin (timberlake AND Guarini), Kelly (clarkson AND ripa), Michael (jackson AND bolton), nelly (furtado AND the rapper), G-unit and all of that cool stuff. I'm an mtv-freak who loves to watch "Yo Mamma"... I'm here because I have no friends and family, so my only chance to speak with somebody is to fake being a "progressive rock" (?, yeah, right, how lame a genre's name could be) fan and try to be amiable with everybody. It has worked ourt so far but not as much as I thought, so I guess it's time for me to leave and try my luck in another forum like paris.com where I can talk about cool stuff and not this intellectual crap you spend all your days talking about.
Oh, don't forget....

You have a point, but this is a prog topic so first of all, how are you going to get them to vote in this poll to begin with, and second of all even if they do stumble in here why would they want to admit they're on a prog site for non-prog topics?
Your heart is in the right place though.

I'm here because I was ostracized from more polite forms of society (i.e. friends, family...porn sites) for singing Songs From the Wood too often and too off key. At the porn sites, they said I could could stay if I could sing on key, but I ain't sellin' out.

No, I'm here in an undercover mission, I'm an agent of the music industry trying to destroy Progressive Rock, I'm not even Peruvian, I work for a well known Miami producer, I acomplished the first part of my mission....to gain the trust of progheads.
I even lead a team, soon I will add Snoop Dog and Eminem to Symphonic, with the complicity of three foreign agents BHIKKHU (Really a Japanese Anime music score producer of series like Sailor Moon and Evangelion, he placed in risk his secret identity saying he is Buddhist), ClemofNazareth (Soldier of fortune and Reggaetton label executive) plus Geck0 (Really Geck007), former groupie of The Spice Girls who has successfully infiltrated several teams.

Lots of them, if you want them.... However, I think it would be better to move this poll to the general Polls section - as I see there has been very little talk about music so far.

I came here for the Prog, and the only reason I stay here is for the Pogressive rock and progressive minded Proggers. I don't visit the forums to learn about Prog really (I use other parts of the site for that), but I do come here to the board to discuss Progressive Rock music, and related issues, with fellow progheads. I often see non-Prog topics that would normally interest me, but I mostly choose to stick to Prog discussions here.
Considering I have a newborn, I don't find I have much time to discuss other topics when I do drop by. Besides, I had other boards for other types of discussions (though now this is the only board I frequent),

I am certainly here for the prog!
I like to see what other people think of the music I like, and I like to read reviews on new bands and albums, so I know what to add to my collection next - or what to steer clear of! I find this site excellent, informative, friendly and very useful.
There is, of course, a forum for non-prog topics, so I suspect that is where people who don't wish to discuss prog go!

When I first visited the site (somewhere in 2004) I was really interested in having found such a web-site. I discovered lots of bands for which I had no clue about.
Actually, I re-discovered prog here after a huge break.
Recently, there were a lot of inclus-ion of bands ranked in proto-prog and prog-related which was somewhere a deviation for me.
Some of them are beloved bands of mine for more than thirty years (Heep, Purple, Led Zep, Santana etc.). So, since they are included, I like to talk about them and review their work as well.
So, today, I consult the site for non-prog bands as well.
Cheers.

Pretty much my story too - when I joined, the site was considerably smaller, so it was easier to chat to those people I hit it off with - as a result, I've made some firm friends around the world, none of whom I've actually met yet, but this is hopefully to change this coming summer.

No!!! Absolutely freakin' not!!!!!!!!! Who gives a hoot about prog?!?!
I am being here because I was expecting young underaged girls (and I rather like young girls ). At first, I couldn't have cared less about the music but I was told they loved prog especially this bald ex-drummer that belonged to a boys band before he had his better days.
So I fell into the trap.
And I stayed.
Still don't care about prog

King Crimson Godspeed You! Black Emperor (knew of, never bothered to listen to their music) Premiata Forneria Marconi Banco del Mutuo Soccorso Museo Rosenbach Quella Vecchia Locanda Semiramis Il Rovescio della Medaglia Can (this is the band that led me to this site) Amon Duul II Ashra Ash Ra Tempel Agitation Free Faust Kluster Cluster Popol Vuh Tangerine Dream Kraftwerk (knew of, never explored their music) Brian Eno Klaus Schulze Edgar Froese Yellow Magic Orchestra Pink Floyd (got me into them after I sampled "Welcom To The Machine") Dun Magma
...and perhaps more. This site also helped me find out who I don't like.
So yes, I am here for the prog :).

the weird thing is, there ARE actually 4 votes for the No option... what the hell is that? I mean, if you want to go to a random site to make friends, why pick a prog-rock site..... it would be much easier in a pop or rap site... having in mind that we proggers are considered pretentious and snobbish....
