Subject: Yes Studio Album Elimination Tournament R

The rules are exactly the same as the tournament for Rush. Pick your least favorite, and every couple of days, I will remove the highest vote-getter and restart the poll. This will continue until only two albums are left, at which point they will slug it out for "best" Yes album.

Voting for round one now over.

Those eliminated:

Open Your Eyes (12 votes)
Close to the Edge + 90125 (7 votes each).

There are some new rules to add:

Your Vote Only Counts If You Make a Post That Says What it Is, to Avoid Cheating!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have made multiple voting available, so I can get a sense of which direction it's going, but voting 20 times for your least favorite won't make a difference.

Standings Heading into Round Two (solely for my addition purposes):

Yes - 1
Time and a Word - 0
The Yes Album - 0
Fragile - 1
Tales From Topographic Oceans - 0
Relayer - 3
Going For the One - 0
Tormato - 5
Drama - 1
Big Generator - 4
Union - 2
Talk - 2
The Ladder - 0
Magnification - 1

Let Round Two Begin!!!!!!!

But come on, even if you don't agree with how highly rated it is, is it as bad as others?

My vote goes to "Big Generator."

No, it's not as bad as the others. Which is why I didn't vote for it. Yet.

My vote goes for CTTELOL

Hard to believe CTTE was voted- surely there can't be anyone that seriously thinks that's Yes' worst, even if they dislike it?

Myself, otherwise, it's pretty clear the way this poll is going to go. The 80s and 90s AOR albums are going to take a hammering. And I'm not going to against the grain. It has to be 'Open Your Eyes'. Who knows whatever possessed Yes to do such a bland AOR album after the return to prog furore of Keys To Ascension (neither volume has been included here, or 'Keystudio')? The wrong album at the wrong time. Two wrongs didn't make a right.

I'm sorry, that's the vote. Geek

Normally, there is no great reason to make a big case out of this. Out of a vote and out of an opinion.

But of course, we're talking the album that shouldn't be touched - Close To The Oh-so-brilliant Edge.

I juse don't want to see Close To The Edge, the usually unbeatable, in the contest too much.

It's anyway one vote against many others that, most surely, we'll keep the album among the last phases of the contest.

If not, for the n time, CTTE will "surprisingly" win the challenge.

---

enjoy Barney.

I'm persuaded, that Talk (maybe also BG) has the same highest quality like CTTE or Relayer, and I like them equally... and (as a prog fan) I needn't to joke. :)

Though I like all Yes albums, Open Your Eyes is their weakest definitely

I would like to get round two started before Thanksgiving, when I won't be here to do that, so voting for round one ends tomorrow at 3:30.

Also, new rules regarding voting will be implemented when we move to round two, so reread my first post before voting in round two (I will also post the rules in my round two notification post, and the most important one in the poll question).

Gone for Tormato in round two. This album was a big, BIG disappointment to me after the wonderful GFTO. It was a mess I felt, and even the cover reflected that. (Although I also dislike GFTO's cover too!)Dead
This was the beginning of the big slide for Yes I felt.

Close To Th Edge is maybe overrated, but he's really good, and I think it's stupid to have voted against it. What a shame... Confused

I vote Relayer because of the limited Yes albums I own, it is my least favourite.

I know there are far worse Yes albums, but I am not a completionist and rarely buy the low[er]-rated albums by Prog bands (as rated by Prog-lovers).

Several of the Yes albums I haven't heard in twenty years or more, and my recollection is extremely vague as I never liked them enough to really pay attention/ listen to them (background music at friends' houses)... So I won't vote for those I don't feel I really know.

There were votes to CTTE by people who wanted to vote it as their favorite but didn't know they were voting for their least favorite, and others that dont find it the worst, they only think it is overrated... plus the threat macker wanted CTTE to be out so bad that seeing that CTTE was the second worse changed the rules in the middle of the game to eliminate itErmm
