I know 'What's your favourite album cover?' is an old chestnut, but if there was an online collection of good quality images from a wide range of progressive rock albums, what wouild be your choice? I nominate  Trilogy by ELP. It's not a great drawing, but it was right for the time.

The Tangents A Place In The Queue has the best artwork I have ever seen, not just the cover but inside with the liner notes as well (at least on the 2 disc version).

I actually bought the album cause of the cover! I knew the music was symphonic and all...but thats the real deal with this album. Excellent work! And Tillison is a great composer!

Many great covers, but this very psychedelic cover remains one of my favourites:

In a more traditional prog vein, I'd nominate:

A more minimalistic approach:

But really, this must be the greatest

Very symbolic!

Peter Lloyd's "Song for America" for Kansas has always been a favorite of mine.

Of course, there are a good number of Roger Dean covers that were pretty striking, too, for Yes & Uriah Heep.

I used to stare and wonder at this cover as a little kid.  I wonder how many takes it took to do it.

Nice to see The Supreme Psychedelic Underground album. I was convinced that it was the legendary "nom-de-plume" album by Deep Purple when I first found it in an Oxfam shop in the early '80's - sadly it isn't. Still a damn good album though

On the Special Edition there is a multimedia feature via Quicktime where they explain the influences musically for tying the artwork together with the album...quite interesting.

Also, I was surprised that when 3D relief plates of album covers started to be made recently that they made Dark Side up, but not Animals. Surely that would have a made a more interesting plate? If they made one of Animals it would certainly be adorning my walls.
