What albums are you guys looking forward to the most?

I can't wait to get my hands on an official copy of Amputechture. I'm also looking forward to new Rush and Primus albums.

I doubt the new Rush will be out by year's end, but I'll get Amputechture for sure.

There will be a new Rush and a new PT album early next year.

The Mars Volta's "Amputechture" is what I am looking to the most in 2006!

What is prog rock ?

It is music that does progress. Progressive music takes a riff, turns it inside out, plays it upside down and the other way around, and explores its potential.

Apart from "Amputechture", which seems to be a masterpiece of sorts, the most eagerly awaited release on my part is not really prog... or rather, it is, though it has not yet been recognised as such on PA. I'm talking of Iron Maiden's new album, "A Matter of Life and Death", which should be out in early September, and it's supposed to be their proggiest yet.

IQ IQ IQ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Clap

no really, I can't wait till their next work of art! Dark matter has just left me wanting more.
The Mars Volta's latest work really left me disapointed actually, but I'm still looking forward with hopes that another De-loused will be created.
A new Rush CD would be great as well!

Secretly, I dream of one day, all of the old Genesis members collaborating once more, to create a masterpeice on parr with The Lamb lies down on Broadway, leaving the entire Prog scene, fans and performers alike, speechless and drooling...jaws droped ofcourse. I love dreaming... *sigh* Embarrassed

If Rush will have a new album out next year, that is what I'm waiting for the most at the moment. I'm also waiting to be able to lay my hands on a copy of TMV's Amputechture (gotta love the cover art!).

I'm not aware of all that's coming out, but the sophomore Ved Buens Ende album in 07 should be the greatest thing ever.

You can find a nice, clean high-resolution cover image for Amputechture in the Wikipedia article on TMV.

Steven Wilson himself said that this project's album will be coming out much later than the next Porcupine Tree and Opeth records, so it's 2008 at best. Try to forget about it for a while.

If we're going into next year, the new Marillion is what I'm looking forward to most, then Scarsick. Cool

The immediate future, I'm looking forward to the new Pendragon, Flower Kings, and Dream Theater DVD's.

Coming down the pike inside a year, I'm (of course) looking forward to Marillion's follow up to Marbles (probably in March). Also looking forward to the new IQ and hopefully a second disc by Kino.

I've heard that Spock's Beard has something coming out by year's end, so that will be on my list. As well as anything by the reformed Asia and new material by Neal Morse.

<<2007: Marillion (I hear it's going to be more rocking then most of their other releases>>

I've heard that the new Marillion is going to have a more of an harsher sound, too. Like I've said, I'm hoping for a nice marriage of Anoraknophobia and Marbles. Mark Kelly has stated that the new album could be the best one they've ever recorded.

Rush
Pain of Salvation
IQ
Magic Pie
VDGG?

After PT's and Spock's Beard's last albums, I'm not too excited for anything new by them.

Is Opeth working on any new stuff?

Bah, I wish I liked more new stuff. I want to be excited for the rest of the year... but it looks like the only album from this year is Pain of Salvation's Scarsick, unless IQ and Magic Pie can get their stuff out before year's end.

And so far, this year hasn't been too good, in my opinion. The best album that I've heard is Tool's 10,000 Days and yeah. Pure Reason Revolution, Andromeda, Novembre, The Tangent, Gilmour, Vanden Plas, and Kayo Dot haven't impressed me. I'll have to check out Devin Townsend, Magenta and Agalloch's new albums again.

Yeah, I heard that too.

A marriage of Anoraknophobia and Marbles could sound really good (two of my favorite Marillion albums). I'm really excited about it.

Do'nt write off PT just yet, Steve Wilsion said that PT have a 17 minute epic on their new album. I think PT are going for a much more progressive  sound this time around.

Oh, does Prog Archives have a chart for upcoming albums? I know there's a just released feature but it'd be nice to have a comprehensive list of what's coming up.

Edit: My problem with Deadwing was that it was just so boring. It seemed like nothing happened and there wasn't any life to it. I love Stupid Dream and In Absentia, and I guess Deadwing was just too much of a change. 17 minute song though? Hope it's good.

I highly anticipated the new album "Signal to Noise" by White Willow. I just got it last week. It's good, but so far my ears tell me that it's not quite as good as "Storm Season" was. Maybe it will grow on me. I'm now looking forward to the new Porcupine Tree album. I hope this one will knock my socks off!

My words exactly!

I have high expectations on the new Symphony X-album is well, since they've had a lot more time than usual on pre-producing this album, it should be a very solid release!
