Corleone for one simple reason: he actually uses his brain. Scarface is not a "thinker"; he allows his passions to govern him and he acts on instinct, often to his own detriment. Corleone is a thinker: he does not allow his passions to govern him, so he is able to more clearly and "cleanly" plan and execute his "thuggery." Scarface wouldn't have a chance. |

Yeah, I've always thought Corleone was the clear choice, but many people have argued that Scarface just might be crazy enough to get Corleone. Their logic lies in the fact that while Michael has a cool head, Scarface's temper could lead him to strike at Corleone quickly enough and strongly enough to finish him in one "hit". Michael Corleone would win in any gang war - he'd probably have taken out most of Scarface's thugs before it even started properly.
