This year I'm starting the second year of the Tonmeister Music & Sound Recording course and I'm looking for someone to record early next year at the University of Surrey, based in Guildford - booking studio time ideally has to be one during September which is why I'm asking now!

So long as you're not selling copies of the recording, there will be absolutely no fee (you may give them away free, if you want!). If you do want to sell CDs or something like that then there is a fee to be negotiated with my course director; it will certainly be cheaper than going to a normal studio and you can even decide whether you want to pay at any time - if I do a crap job you lose nothing but your time and travel costs

I'm really looking for something that I'll enjoy, but I don't have any preference on style - so long as you're competent musicians it's all good; I've heard everything from free jazz to "orchestral drum 'n' bass" to piano singer-songwriters doing sessions here! It'll run more smoothly if you've had a recording session before but again it's not essential. The only things I don't really want are growled vocals or gigantic 20+ ensembles of obscure instruments that will take me hours to figure out how to mic up!

I'm happiest working at night, i.e. midnight onwards but when I get my lecture timetable in six weeks I'll be able to find daytime slots I can work in too. The unviversity does have quality studios and professional equipment. Feel free to reply or PM me with any questions and I hope I get some interesting people to record
